Why am I getting evicted?
Okay I recently moved into a small bedroom apartment that is very noisey. My door is located right next to the hallway exit door and every time people leave in and out I hear the SLAM! of the door. Even when I go into my bedroom and close the door, I can hear the exit door slamming. Its very annoying. So I decided to put a phone book by the exit door so that it stays pryed open and I dont have to hear it opening and closing. My landlord says I cant do this- but I told her its too loud when it slams. How can I solve this problem?

Here's a site where you can go for the laws in your... State... sometimes landlords do not share these laws with the tenants and more or less your left in the dark about your rights.
Every state is different in the ways they make them laws up. There's two sates in the USA that has to this day to pass laws to protect the tenants. http://www.uslandlord.com/ just go to Laws & Statutes and then pick the state you live in theres you laws up-dated at the time you go on this site.

This way its good to know you right unless, some people end up with a bad landlord because... there bluff works most of the time because of lack of knowledge of your rights.
After you have looked at your rights and theirs.
Then you know where you can go as far as taking up for yourself.
If your civil rights has been broking you can call your local...Legal Aid and they will give you the number of a Pro-Bone-O Lawyer the help you in any problems you endure.*
http://www.lawyers.com/ is a site where you can talk to a chat with an attorney live also on there site... you can get a lawyer in your home town if you wish to go that way.

The door closer is prabably set too loose. Tell your landlord to adjust it.

Maybe your landlord could put a pneumatic hinge on the top of the door like they have in businesses. Not sure what they're called but it will make the door shut more gently.

Why are you getting evicted? Try looking at the notice. It usually gives a reason.

I think hallway doors have to remain closed for fire and insurance purposes. You can't just leave them propped open.

Ask them to install one of those air hinges so you don't have to listen to the slamming noise.

Earplugs, or move to a better apartment.

Did you get a thirty day notice. They can't evict you for that. Unless! You don't have a lease, and they don't like you. They can pretty much do it. If you fight it and lose, you'll have an eviction on your record, and you DON'T want that. Tell them to have it repaired.

you need to talk with your landlord. i have a problem like that as well. is the door capeable of being locked..or is there an alternet route people can take. this is a problem you really need to ask your landlord about rather than us!

move thats going to be the only way.

The door should have a door closer on top of the door, where it will close the door gently but without the force you keep hearing. This will prevent unwanted from coming into the apartment too. If there is a door closer on top of the door it's due for some repair or needs to be recharged to prevent it from slamming shut each time.

Ok, so where's the part about her telling you that you're evicted? Did I miss something???

Ask them to put some foam around the door or install a mechanism to slow the door so it doesnt bang. The landlord can't evict you for doing that. There is no clause in the lease banning phone books.
