Throughout March, April and so far this month (May) I have noticed many more houses for sale in the London area than usual. Why is this? I have never before seen so many 'For Sale' boards. The other day I saw about 5 boards on one street alone. What is going on? Why are people selling? Does the global 'credit crunch' have anything to do with this? Has anyone noticed this rise in selling where they live?

I had a feeling it was down to the credit crunch. I've only just noticed it in the UK, now I can better understand whats been going on in the states over the past year or so. Must be happening everywhere, it's like that here in Arkansas, U.S. as well. Everyone is getting foreclosed on, and the banks are forcing them to sell. It sucks. There's a whole huge new section in the newspaper for foreclosures. |

You need your newspapers, etc to keep up with local, national and world news! The overheated real estate markets around much of the world are in meltdown. The credit crunch affects real estate markets worldwide. So do rising taxes, fuel prices, and the worldwide food shortage that has more than doubled food prices in the past two years. People simply cannot afford their homes, even some of those who were not stupid, low-income, poor-credit-rating buyers of more expensive homes than they could really afford.
Not only are a lot more properties coming on the market, but also the prices are dropping -- in a few areas, especially with a lot of foreclosures, prices have so far dropped up to 50%. If you have cash and good credit, this could be a good time to buy for investment. |

Many people got loans at really low rates a while back and are now facing HUGE increases in their mortgages as the interest rates come due. It's really sad and scary. Lots of people losing their homes. The economy is is deep you-know-what. Let's hope the November elections will bring about some change. |

Yes, I live in Michigan (US) ... There is a depression here. Alot of people have lost jobs and are trying to move out of state. I live in a Manufactured home park... 1/2 of the homes are for sale. And several regular houses are for sale too.. On any given street you will see about 3 or more houses for sale in my neighborhood.... and a few years ago there might only be 1 house for sale on a street if any at all.
For Michigan it is because all the auto manufacturing jobs have gone out of the country to Mexico or where ever they went... |

Its because of bad loans and not making payments and foreclosers type things everyone was buying houses with low interest with loans of horrible terms and some just got caught in the pinch among gas and other prices pushing the limit so they are trying to bail out or at least savage something buy selling them. |
