New mommy to baby Alexia!
Why do burglars tend to break into homes instead of apartments? is it harder in an apt?

shiprepairwoman
Homes are farther apart so less chance of noise bothering other people and more entrances also homes might have more or nicer stuff.

OR
around here they do apartments too.

rig
with apts its harder to tell someone is in
the back room , a house is eazy most of the time
just the doors are alam
some skip the windows to save money .........bad move
on there part

D
Maybe because there are a lot more eyes and ears in an apartment complex.

houses have more valuable stuff. thats why!

Stacy C
I wouldn't say they break in either more often than the other. Both places are vulnerable to a robbery if the owner/renter is careless. Theives are people of opportunity and an open window or unlocked door is ample opportunity to steal.

With more people in proximity a burglar is more likely to be noticed in an apartment.

Homes are likely to be occupied by more well to do residents, and can be surveilled more easily as there is a smaller number of occupants.
The higher end apartment dwellings are more likely to have better security and possible doormen. In addition, there are more residents (potential witnesses around) and there are 2 points of entry and exit that need to be overcome (the main entrance/exit and the actual target residence entrance/exit).

Terry S
Apartments are closer together.

Burglars know there will be people home in apartments.

Homes are quite different.

Most families today are 2 income.

After 9:00 a.m. the occupants are most likely at work.
