jamiecoxy79 | Why is it on houses that have been sold the estate agent puts up a sold sign? |
why not just take the for sale sign down and leave it at that? |
|

freddiem
 |
It is a basic form of advertising, it shows prospective sellers that he can sell property. |
|

J.J.
 |
It's advertising for the agent. It's telling the world, "Hey, I sold this run down s***hole, I can sell your house, too". |
|

Shonsay
|
because it is positive advertising for their company |

In order to advertise that his agency has been successful in selling that particular property and to attract other clients either to sell ot to buy. |

That way everyone is impressed that the company sold yet another house! Plus, it takes forever for someone to come & pick up your for sale sign! This way, people don't keep bothering you about the house. |
|

tassintwo

Because they are only SOLD subject to contract so it may still fall through and have to go back on the market. |

I have a realtor friend and when I bought a house from her she wanted to leave the sign with "SOLD" on it. I asked her why and being the friend she is, she told me it is for advertising. Anything to keep her name and phone number out there is good for her. I let her keep it there for a couple weeks being the good friend I am-I even had to move the thing when I mowed the lawn. But, I'll tell ya, I still remember her work number because of that sign and it's been 9 years ago!! Kinda like one of those stupid, catchy jingles you can't get outta yer head! ;) |

Because they are only sold "subject to completion of contract" |

Mainly advertising - looks very good for perspective vendors if for arguments sake you have 3 properties in one street and they all have SOLD signs on, shows success |

Free advertising for RE that they were sucessful selling this house. |

because sometimes the sale falls through. this way if anyone else expresses an interest they can contact them if the sale does fall through. |

advertising and bragging, to get future business |

bettyboopgirl

it's actually to show that the company is active and sells homes..More advertisement helps get that real estate company and agent recognized...
And more people will call them.. |
|

shih tzu lady

Because they are showing off! If you see how efficient they are at selling a property you might just decide to use them in the future. |

so people know it's been sold dumbass |
|

BIG D
 |
Bit of blagging on their part.
But the cheeky s*d who sold my home for the previous owners tried to tell me, after I had taken it down, that he had a contract for it to be there until the end of the month.
He waddled off down the road with it stuck up his jacksy for his trouble. They wonder why they are despised? |
