Why is the UK so unfair to the homeless ?
Homeless people would like to have a normal life but in UK there is a real housing shortage, now nobody can afford a house or afford to pay for a house. Many families are repossessed and nobody gives a damm. Kids are growing up with no permanent accommodation and the government does not build any new houses that could be sold to people at an affordable price. There are only rip off shared ownership schemes. Why is the UK not hauled before the International Criminal Court for abusing it's power ? People are ready to build but denied planning permission. Travellers in their caravans are victimised by riot police. UK is such a Stalinist state and it is so unfair. They tax hard working people but deny even a basic house. Even transport to get to work is unaffordable but gov.t does not help at all. It's absolutely ridiculous ! In UK now we have come 23rd (out of 23) as the worst place for children to grow up " In UK today we have to change things to make it a better place ! More homes !

Because people assume if you are homeless then it must be your own fault as most people have never had to live without even a basic shelter.

My and family where homeless when I was about 6 as my parents split up and we had no where to go. The local council told my mum to live with my gran so we did. My Grandad was dying of cancer at the time. In the end we couldn't stay there where 6 of us in a 2-bed flat and someone dying so we ended up in a hostel where we had to share a room with other homeless people. There were drug addicts living there too, but there were also other families in similar positions.

We had to stay there until we got a council flat, in an area not much better than the hostel, but at least we didn't have to share it.

People don't know this goes on as the government don't broadcast it. It still goes on to this day which is awful for a country like Britain.

P.S Bob, you are right there are lost of houses to rant, but private rent is far too expensive for low-income families, it's not even a possibilty in some cases.

that first answer says it all, people stereotype and cant see past that. at the end of the day the homeless are still human beings. it has to be an extremely small percentage of homeless that like the way they live. its alright saying o yes, they all smell and are alcoholics and drug addicts whilst your sat in your centrally heated house with a roof over your head and a toilet and running water. what about all the holiday homes? my fella lives in norfolk. there are houses there that go for over 3 million quid. for what? to be lived in for one month a yr. its scandalous. i struggle to pay my rent and have no idea how anyone can afford a mortgage and actually afford to live after other bills. we're taxed to the hilt and have nothing but cut services to show for it. its not more homes, its restrictions on homes, some landlords own in excess of 150 homes. there's no need. then they turn around and say, well we're doing a service, people would be homeless without me, no mate, they'd be able to afford their OWN place without people like the greedy landlords pushing prices up further. its a bubble. and when it pops i'll feel sorry for all the working average people who only wanted a home for their children. but not the greedy twats who caused the problem in the first place. maximum of two homes per family and that is it. no more allowed. that would solve it.

You know, I think that same cry goes on around the world. Unless enough people stand up for what is right, it will keep going on.

I think some people might have misinterpreted your question - the "homeless" generally brings to mind images of poor people on the streets.

Basically, council houses were sold off (thank you, Margaret Thatcher), so there's little state housing available, and you're lucky to be eligible for it, although getting yourself pregnant post 16 should do it.

Britain is in a pretty dismal state and all of it's problems are interlinked - more immigrants and a general population increase has led to there being more people than there are houses, and also to increased congestion in cities because there are more people.

But we don't want to become a horrible built up country, and we can't just build houses anywhere that it's physically possible - there are issues regarding preservation of greenfields and protection of the habitats.

Houses are expensive, but there are plenty of opportunities to rent, so there's no reason why people with a job and a family can't find somewhere to live.

Ever since 'care in the community' everything has got worse for everyone.

Your last remark 'we have to change things' is good but I've lost count of the many time I've been told that but no one tells you HOW!

But in these days of big business it's all about money. The govt because that's where they get their money they are increasingly under their control.

Charity is forced to take a back seat.

There 264 worse places in the world than the UK a child can grow up. I agree the government has made mistakes. I don't like this administration at all but I don't agree that they don't care about the homeless. Due other political decisions and a basic lack of common sense( by the party that promised us joined up government) they have created a massive and growing imbalance between supply and demand. Even if they abandoned planning laws almost completely the house builders could not cope. It would take many years possibly 20 for them to catch up. Roads, hospitals, schools, universities, police, fire ambulance and council office buildings are also required. The costs of these far exceed the revenue created, until now that has not been too much of an issue. Now the bills are starting to come in.

So yes failed policy but not uncaring just incompetent.

Why are people crying about their loses and shortages and complaining about what their neighbors have?

What you are asking for is more socialism. Do you not read history and see that socialism never works. People do not become equally haves, they become equally have-nots. Everyone suffers. Wait and see, if you get everything from your government you think you deserve, your taxes will really be something to complain about.

You complain about the UK being a Stalinist state but you are also asking for more socialism. That makes no sense, you want more of what you don't want, huh???
