Why wont estate agents leave you alone??
Why is it that my husband and i gave 3 estate agents our details and told them under no circumstances do we want to be put on the mailing list, the reason being, that they never send you anything that meets your budget, surely they are wasting their own paper.

Also why do they have to ring you 3 or 4 times before they get the message that your not interested in being bullied into buying their property? Surely they should realise that people don't like to be hounded!!

Estate agents are worse than recruitment agents. They are money hongry blood thirsty cowboys in business suits. I say freedom of the buyers and seller, lets unite and sell out sh*t independently, no comission to pay those jerks either :-)

At a guess, maybe they do bully some people into submission!! And then they make lots of commission and the embarassment of harassing the other people is quickly forgotten in a euphoric haze of money.................

They are desperate, the industary was swamped with unskilled wanna-a-be's and now that it folding on them. Only the good ones are surviving.

Have compassion, but be clear, "Do not contact me again."

Cos they're leeches..
Next time you receive a letter from them post it back to them without a stamp..they'll soon get the message..

Silly question.... why did you give 3 agents your number if you dont want them to call you??

If you were to tell the agent exactly what you were looking for, even narrowing it down to road names, they will only phone you when they have something suitable. My guess is that you are not telling them your requirements if they keep ringing you about the wrong properties.

mrtester1959
Yeah.. I am wondering if you don't want to be bothered by these agents, why did you give your number? I am a realtor and I don't hound anybody for their business and most agents I know are the same. If you want help buying or selling, let me know and I'll help, but don't waste my time by telling me you want assistance, giving me your contact info, etc if you don't intend to return my calls. I am bound by a personal and professional code of ethics to treat you honestly and fairly. If you can't do the same for me, don't bother me.

Oh Nooooo!
Maybe you shouldn't have contacted the agents???

Why do flies rush to rotten meat? Not that you're rotten meat, quite the opposite, you're raw meat, you need to be converted to a sale, at least in their eyes.

The haressing phone calls often are an attempt to create a 'relationship' a with you, and have themselves stand out as your first port of call for advice et cetera, although very few salespeople have the knack to do that without 'bullying'.

At the end of the day that 'fourth or fifth' time might just be enough to convert you, and in a salespersons eyes 'one more time' is always worth it.

They think that people are too nice, and would rather buy from them, than hurt their feelings by telling them no....tell them to take a hike......
The buyers agent i used always sent me a bunch of listings...juuuuuust above what i wanted to pay....I found my house on the internet. In this day, realtors are more of a bother than a necessity...before the internet, yes, you needed them, but now, buyers and sellers can more easily find each othere....realtors are like an annoying fifth wheel.....try to strike a deal with the owner alone, for a little less money...you will pay less, and they will get more money.....realtors...who needs them? useless....

You must be dealing with the wrong agents. Most top realtors will not bother to convince you to buy anything. If one of my buyers likes a property they know it without me telling them anything. A good agent is used to make sure you get the best price and terms for your purchase and make sure you are dealt with in a fair manner.
