The Republicans will be pumping a great deal of money into the economy in 2008 because they want the economy to look good for the election year.
In some parts of the country that will pump up the economy and make it easier for sellers of real estate.
In many parts of the country the real estate inventory is so large that I so not see how it can become a seller's market for many years.
It is interesting, that in Cupertino California, where I own a number of rental houses, it is still a seller's market. We still have multiple offers and overbids.
Even though it is a buyer's market in most of the United States it is not a buyer's market everywhere.
As they say, real estate is a local transaction.

I think it will! But maybe I'm just being pessimistic. I love realty, I always watch the shows and after going back and forth on my career path I'm sure this is what I want after college. I think with the prospect of a new leader here in the US and so on, ppl will want to make more changes :) Right now it's definitely a buyers market.. but soon it will be a fair game market. I'mma make that money!! |

I have heard from multiple people (Trump, Cramer, Kiyosaki) that a March 2008 turn around is likely. Hold on to your real estate now, winter is never good for sales anyways!
The problem with the real estate market is the mortgage/credit crunch... once that settles out, I think we'll start to see gradual appreciation of land again.
In the meantime, if you have real estate that you're looking to sell, consider renting it and holding on to it. Depending on where you are in the country, you could lose some serious profits if you sell your house right now. Make sure you have residual income coming in every month to cover your property's expenses and maybe even put a few extra bucks in your pocket each month! |

Probably not. Real estate markets are very
subject to local conditions. But speaking
generally about the US, I would not expect
housing prices, or residential construction,
to recover for another two to four years.
If we have a recession in '08, it will take
longer.
If you have a house to sell, you might as well
bite the bullet and lower the price.
If you are interested in buying a house, have
good credit and can pay 20% down, this is a
good time. But take your time and shop
carefully for both the house and the mortgage. |
