kirsty | Will the dss pay £600 for a private rent for me and 3 kids, do they pay it for you? |

Depends on the amount of bedrooms you have. If you have 3 they will probably pay;if more they will ask you to pay something.
Rules have changed and unfortunately it is harder to rent privately.
If you found a landlord willing to rent to you on DSS then try to take it.
Wish you and your children well. |

you would need to contact them to check this out, they will likey pay the majority of it if not all of the amount. However you should maybe see about working and supporting you and your kids yourself, to many people rely on the government and tax payers to support them and is this really right? the job centre can help you get back into emplyment and help you with child care if need be. good luck |

Yes I am sure they will - in fact why not ask if they can pay a mortgage for you instead of £600. So you can have the house when they finish paying! |

It all depends on your circumstances.
If you are on benefits, and £600 is the going rate in your area for your accommodation needs, then all you will pay is something like £10
a week.
But as I said all depends on your circumstances |

I'm not sure if they do, i think Housing Benefit pay it for you, if you are receiving Income Support or some form of Job Seekers Allowance, they will also pay a Council Tax Allowance until your situation improves and you are in a position where you can work. I think hunni, the problem is more whether or not the Landlord of the property will accept DSS payments, i know many of them don't. If your situation is such that you need this help now you might be better going to your local council to see if they are able to offer you some support in the meantime. They will also have access to a local Housing Association list who may also be able to help. They do accept Housing payments to cover your rent.
Anyway, all the best and good luck, i hope you situation improves soon. |

no they will not pay it all they would rather find you an alternative accommodation |

im sure it all depends on the number of bedrooms in use and the area...so if you've got more rooms in the house than is necessary for your family then they wont pay the full amount...but its years ago that i was claiming benefits so im not sure |

Hi T

This is not the place for such questions, try the local council and ask for the necessary forms. |

If it's true that the DSS pay this sort of money for rent, then the boss of the DSS should be taken out into the street and shot. |

The DSS is only a forwarding agent what you mean is will us tax payers pay it for you no thanks |

cant see why not.. my sister in law is renting privately and is receiving benefits, the council pay £700 towards her rent but I think she has to find another £100 herself.
All the best |
