depends and the rules are really complex
If you are of working age and took out your mortgage prior to 1992 you would have to wait 39 weeks before receiving any real help. If after 1992 you will wait a year. They then only pay the interest. |

No.
In certain circumstances they may pay some of the interest. |

usually no, i've heard that they may pay the interest only in the UK |

the guy who spoke about Income support for Mortgage Interest is right
..
it also depends on the nature of you becoming unemployed..plus what levels of protection u have in place.
CAB will look at possible state benefits u may be enetitled to
but as for paying your mortgage off...its a No...
whatever benefits u will or could get will no doubt be insufficient to cover your mortgage all the way through...
if u fall into arrears n think u may not be able to get out of that hole....contact the lender directly ASAP...to look at possible solutions...but also find yourself a JOB asap...whatever is may be |

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe if you have been keeping up on your mortgage repayments before you're unemployment then they will help. Your best bet is to check with your local council. |

No, they'll help you with your rent, but not your mortgage.......it's times like these that we wish we hadn't swallowed the conservatives spin that we are ALL wealthy and therefore should all BUY property (and vote Tory) isn't it.
Fact is your mortgage is YOUR responsibility, you are the one that will benefit from it (by paying £1,000,000.00 for a £150,000 house, that ends up worth £300,000). If you are NOT financially independent enough to be able to afford a mortgage, you should sell and rent.
Benefit will then pay your housing costs!
I am playing devil's advocate here to show that the contrary to popular belief, the benefit system is there to help the very worst off, all the rest of us have to help ourselves. My advice, get another job quick or sell your house!
Oh yeah, and forget the mortgage protection insurance scam too, never worth the premiums for what they pay out.....if they pay out at all; you'll be better saving as much money as you can to tide you over! |

UK answer only.
As a rule help with mortgage costs is linked to Income based Job Seekers Allowance. The rules about what you get and when are very complex, with a number of twists and turns
As a basic rule they will only pay interest costs for the first £100,000 of a mortgage taken out for house purchase and certain essential home improvements.
Assuming you are working age then generally you will get no help for the first 39 weeks of the claim.
A very limited number of groups can get help sooner or immediately.
It is important that you get advice on this point from a local CAB. Please take in details of the family income plus details of your mortgage. They will be able to ask a numer of questions that can give you a more definitive answer |

I would review the website under sources below for some great help. If you can claim unemployment, I would use that money to pay your mortgage. |
