Yes...you only get one payment per household and it comes automatically.

Your wife will be able to apply on the above after July 2008

Ms Mat Urity
Think it must depend on what area you live regarding what you require to fill out, in our case my husband got it automatically when he was 60. However, it's best not to take as gospel what I or others tell you on here about how you go about it. If you check with your local Citizens Advice Bureau they will tell you what exactly you require to do for where you live. Your wife's birthday entitles her to get the allowance this year, there is a cut off point sometime in Sept and if your birthday follows after that you do not receive this allowance until the following year. This is not a means tested benefit, nor does it matter how much savings you have (I note someone has implied this in their answer) not does it matter if you are in full time employment you still get it. This year the payment has risen from £200 to £250 and some people receive more if they are oap's over a certain age and on certain benefits but the straightforward £250 if for everyone over 60.

There will be forms to fill in to find out what "savings" etc. she has. She may get the £100 benefit but if her savings are high, she wont get it.

you will get your household winter fuel payment this back-end like all other 60+ householders do!

DAVID M
Yes she is entitled and it normally is paid authomatically taking its cue from State retirement pension or pension credit. If neither are in payment she will have to apply

Arthur A
Yes she has to fill out forms to apply. Its called the H.E.A.T. program where you can go on line for more information.
