A friend of mine bought his house in the last recession. It was a repossed one and the building society just wanted to get rid of it. He got a nice semi-detached house in greater London for £45,000. He had some money for the deposit and managed to get a mortgage for the rest. |

They'll all end up at the local auctions, and private investor landlords will snap them up when they're at their lowest values.
Then we'll spruce up what needs to be done and stick them on the rental market.
Of course there is a lot up for rent so it does mean that rentals will get more competitive!!
In the long run, this is going to mean that there are less properties available for first time buyers, and it will probably all happen again in another 10 years.
The banks will have to offer 100% mortagages, then prices will drop, negative equity sets in and away we go again!!
On the upside, if you've got good credit and a full time job, you'll be able to rent a top notch place, for esonable rates!! |

The one that still have money, the very one OBAMA wants to take it away from,They will now buy your home at greatly reduced rates and rent them to someone that still has a job |

That should be obvious.. they are selling them to people who HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY THEM because there ARE NO HOME LOANS AVAILABLE NOW. |

Previous posters are correct, but something has to be done about the 100% mortgage, There are a lot of first time buyers out there who want to move out of the rented trap but are unable to save for the 10%deposit because of the exorbitant rent they are paying to landlords.I know of one person who is paying only£100 less in rent then what the mortgage would be on a house that he has fallen in love with. |
