As a parent I think this is a great idea, I would think it was a plus. |

I think it's not a good idea. |

I wouldn't do it. You will lose wall space in the bathroom and it will just look odd. If you were thinking about staying in the house forever and just wanted it for yourselves, ok, but if you plan to sell anytime soon, don't do it. |

Not a particularly good idea. It wouldn't hurt the resale value, but it wouldn't help, either. Exiting or entering a home through the bathroom is not something most people would want to do, or would value. Look for some other way to put in a second entrance/exit. |

Speaking as someone who is currently looking at houses to move into, if I was looking at a house and there was the door to the outside in the bathroom, I'd have to pass. That just seems odd to me, and I don't think I'd like it nor have a use for it. I am used to seeing houses with just the front door and then a door to the garage, and see no big issue with just those doors being in a house.

Most assuredly it would affect resale values. Doors to the outside in bathrooms are NOT expected nor desirable, save for in commercial restrooms.
Don't do it, unless you are prepared to change it back to what it was BEFORE, when you decide to sell. |

I don't think this is a good option as your main door to the back yard. I think this would be a drawback at resale.
I recall a house that had a door to the outside that was accessed through the master bath shower! Now THAT was strange! |

At first I thought you were referring to a door to make the bathroom usable as a "pool bath" or something. That idea would be fine. If instead you are proposing to direct traffic thru the bath- I think that would be very odd and hurt the resale quite a bit.
"Hey everybody! let me show you the tree in the back yard...don't mine the toilet." |

I think it's definitely not a good idea because you could create an entrance for thieves and besides, how would you go through the back door if someone were having a shower or a bath?? |

If you aren't selling the house anytime soon, you could do it. But, people will think this is weird, if you try to sell it anytime soon. I've thought of doing this so I could get the kids from outside directly into the bath. But, instead, if you have the funds, just build a mudroom with a bath to the back of the house. |

YOU ONLY NEED TWO DOORS TO BE UP TO CODE WHICH YOU HAVE. LEAVE THE BATHROOM ALONE UNLES YOU DON'T EVER PLAN ON SELLING THE HOUSE. |

That's weird. But it'll be convenient for back yard barbecues and letting outside workmen taking a dump. |

Do you not have a patio or sliding door to exit the house? Do you have the option to have it in your bedroom? I have seen several houses laid out with an exit in the master. |

No that wouldn't be cool. If it is not a common feature, then it will only hurt your chances the resell the property. |

I think it would be cool. You could sit there having a crap and watch the birdies. |
