If the noise of the trains going by won't bother you then go ahead and buy it. It shouldn't be dangerous to live near a railroad as long as you aren't out walking on the tracks when a train comes. I live in an area with a lot of railroads and I see a lot of houses built near railroads. My daughter has a friend who lives where the railroad is at the edge of her back yard. You get used to it. |

I would check with the neighbors and perhaps go by at night and see what kind of activity goes on. Is there a commuter rail stop or any type of depot there? That could bring unwanted traffic to the area. Wait around and see how loud the train is when it passes, even though you could get used to it in time, it may come to drive you crazy! |

At first glance of your question I thought it all about condoms for there are several askers whos' questions contain spelling mistakes although they can be checked and corrected easily with the help of ready spell check icon.
Noise pollution is the real danger, If the railroad is active then you must be disturbed all the day and night. Try to sell it even at low price. Health is wealth. |

I would be more worried about the ability to re-sell the property at alater date. If it is in damand and you dont think it will be hard to sell should you need to then buy what you love. I say make a pros and cons list as well ...... |

It is very noisy and you can't do anything in low volume, even after midnight. How closet it is? , Can you feel the shaking?. No definitely I wont live close, 10 blocks is that OK. |

Check out how active the tracks are maybe very little traffic. If there are lots of trains the only danger would be chemicals.Vut wouldnt it be noisy? |

NO! Noise dust and loss of resale value |

well, it depends on how much and what kind of traffic goes through there.. if it is mostly passenger or non-chemicals transport then I wouldn't see why not...
You probably get used to the noise level...or make your own necessary adjustments. |

Living near a railroad is much like living near a school. If you are so close that you can see it easily and hear the noise then it will hurt the property value a little. However, if you are out of earshot ( for the most part) and can not see it, but are within walking distance then that is a benefit to your value. And the same applies to schools. As far as being dangerous I would say only if you have pets that wander or small children. |

How busy is the railroad, some are hardly used just at night for cargo transports, whilst others are very busy, you would need to ask how busy it first. |
