Would you buy a house next to a graveyard ? How would it affect resale value in 2 years ?

Landlord
I think I would. The neighbors are quiet and the grass is always green.

Lanah
I grew up out in the country about a half mile from a country
church and cemetery. It wouldn't bother me, but I wouldn't buy
a house near a cemetery because I think it would affect the
resale.

Personally I would not. As far as resale value it really all depends on location of the house, condition, and surroundings. I think if it was a good distance away from the graveyard and also not in sight of it, it could have a chance... Otherwise i would prefer to look for a better location where a family could settle. Most families would not want to live near a graveyard....

no its no telling what dead people will do.

There's a larger issue here. If you're planning to buy a house intending to sell in two years, you're likely to lose money anyway. Houses generally don't appreciate enough in only a couple of years to offset the costs of selling a home.

That said, I wouldn't want to live next to a graveyard and that will make it harder to sell because many people are going to be turned off by the prospect.

It's not for everyone, but some folks would love it. Haunted houses are in demand by some too. Still, in this economy, you should only purchase this property if you can afford it and feel good about it. Do not speculate on resale potential at this time.

I personally wouldnt mind living next to a graveyard. At least you would have quiet neighbors. I dont think you should be buying a house if you are only going to be living in it for such a short period of time. You will be lucky if you even break even when you do sell it. I can see how buyers may be turned off by the fact that it is so close to the graveyard but like myself....it doesnt bother me one bit and Im sure there are other buyers out there that feel the same as I do. So. its really up to you...how do you feel about living near a graveyard for two years?

Alterfemego
Sure why not. At least you know that no one is ever going to live there. As for resale, well sure it would have some effect. But look at it this way, there is only one buyer per house anyway, it just may take a little longer.

Well you wouldn't have to worry about the neighbors now, would you?
