I would purchase it and live in it. I would also rent one. I don't care. It wouldn't matter as long as it is affordable.

Murder and suicide are two very different scenarios....If it were a murder, I would be concerned about the safety of the neighborhood and the nature of the murder, example, robbery gone bad.....If it were a suicide, it wouldn't bother me.....BTW, suicide, doesn't have to be disclosed to a potential buyer, but murder would have to be disclosed.... |

I'd purchase it, but wouldn't live in it. |

Not to be too graphic, but if the past crimes were cleaned up properly, and any damage inflicted were repaired, I would rent one, if not buy. I don't believe in ghosts and that sort of nonsense. If the current owner/seller offered a discounted price due to the past history, that would be even more reason to get into the home. If you can make your mind forget about the house's past history, you should be comfortable with your rental or purchase. I would ignore any comments made by neighbors or others in the neighborhood and go about my business. |

No buying or renting! |

If the price was good, and I wouldn't have to clean blood or brains off the wall, it would be ok. |

Yes ... but I would want to know it had been cleaned very well and the carpet replaced. If I buy a house I don't want to replace the carpet 10 years down the road to find some scary stains on the floor boards. |

No. I do not believe in ghosts or spirits, but I do believe in my imagination. I think I would try to imagine where and how the murder took place and I would avoid morbid thoughts such as that. This is why I don't watch shows such as CSI.
Also, did the location of the house have anything to do with the murder/suicide? For instance, in a high crime area? |

I'd check the entire story first, then do a spiritual cleaning. It would be pretty freakin' cool. |

Thats a very hard one. Im into property and I've asked myself that before. Probably not to live in, but anyone who was renting it would probably know people in the area who know the houses history. I suppose you could put a very low offer in and it may get accepted. |

If you beleive in supernatural stuff then no. If you are like WHATEVER with that stuff then sure go ahead. |

Sure why not as long as it was cleaned thoroughly and painted.
There are no ghosts hanging around the house. Dead people can't hurt you, it's the live ones you need to be worried about...lol |

If you buy the home and decide to sell it later, you will have to disclose the death to the buyer. Not many people are going to be ok with that. Thus, your home would probably have to sell at a discount. |

Surely, but before buying I would checkout the surrounding environment, may be there could have been a lot of pollution which could have caused some kind of disease to the occupier of the house and may be he could have killed himself due to the problem he suffered from and there could be really bad neighbours who could have done this. if the matter for murder or suicide is silly then I would definitely buy such a house because they come at low prices. |

I don't think it would affect my decision about living in one, but buying, no because it may not sell again due to the facts. |

Now this is just silly. Anyone that can afford to buy a house they like is damn lucky and anything that ever happened in that house before has no impact on it in the present. What about accidental deaths then? Or lets go back to basics - who died while building the house, clearing the site, 10 years ago on that exact spot, 100 years ago, 1000 years ago etc.... People die ... people die in houses ... people die in their gardens / sheds / garages etc all the time - if you had no idea because it happened more than one owner ago or you were new to the area, would you even think to ask " has anyone ever died here, how and when" - think about - it has no relevance. If you like a house, can afford the market value asking price and the house is in good condition then buy it and enjoy the rest of YOUR life!!! And, btw, why in hells name would you want a discount because someone died in the house? Do you want a slightly lesser discount because someone was just ill in the house (but, damn them, didn't die and give you the opportunity to haggle over price)! It is rubbish that people won't buy because of a death sometime in a properties history and if you walk away, someone more realistic will steal your dream house from under your nose. A home is what YOU make it! |

Got this problem myself right now. found our dream house, putting offer down today but got a phone call this morning off my other half saying his friend has told him that someone hung themselves in the attic in the house we want to buy 4 years ago. doesnt both me at all, all im thinking about is hopefully living there but my other half is "scared" just incase something bad happens and as we're trying for children. i actually am afraid now that he wont go through with it due to this and its perfect for us. dont get me wrong its not a nice thought to know every time when we go into the attic that someone killed themselves in there but it was 4 years ago not like last week and to be honest he wanted to be at peace so hopefully he'll leave us in peace. No house on this earth would get sold if we went back 10,000 years ago, it would get as silly as, "but there was a war on this estate, 10%off?" every street and house has had a natural or unforseen death due to someone or something i.e fire but you never hear of house prices being dropped due to that, only because of the neighbourhood your buying from i.e. two streets from mine theres a drop of 100,000 due to the area not deaths can you believe it! Im going to persuade persuade but it really does affect people's decisions on buying a house, never thought it would bother him more than me, just want my dream house more than anything but if werid stuff starts happens you are trapped there thats the issue i think, it is freaky though but you gotta look past it and carry on, would be nice to get it a bit cheaper though lol :) |
