Tiffany | Would you ever get a roommate? |

Take a friend with you and go meet these people. See if it's a situation you would be comfortable with. If you and a friend got a place together it might be better. If you're moving in to somebody elses place, even if you're paying half the bills, you're likely always going to feel like you're living in somebody else's place instead of your own.
I'm a pretty independent person, so i found an ad in the local paper about a garage apartment for rent. It was cheap, and i had my own apartment. It was cool. |

If you go through with it, be extremely protective of your stuff, even if you become friends with your roommates. |

if you are comfortable around them, like the first time you met them, i would say go for it..
if it doesnt end up working out, you can always leave.
and if you have any worries about your stuff, just put a lock on your door, or put your expensive things in a safe.
but if you wernt comfortable around them, i would say just dont do it.. |

Yea you should do it.And i would have a roommate if he was hot haha. |

yeah, but be sure to check them out, meet them, spend time with them first.
also make sure what your paying for. utilities included ?
find someone who is as neat/sloopy as yourself, and as noisy/quiet as yourself. |

Absolutely, I'm a college student and have been living with a roommate for the past four years. I don't see what the problem with it is. Frankly, it's a great way to meet new people and to save cash. |

many good friendships have been ruined this way! As for renting with strangers - thats a crap shot that is not worth the risk!!! |

first you should meet the person and feel the out you don't just want to move in with anyone |

Find a friend who you might be able to live with or if you went to college, see if any old college friends are looking for a place.
A roommate will save you a lot of money if you plan on moving out! |

Your first question in your mind is why they are looking for a room-mate ; get to know the person and come to a mutual agreement on what is expected and have it certified by a public notary and that way should you need to pursue any legal questions in court you will have documented evidence to support your claim .
Personally , I have never had much luck and so I wish you the best of luck ! :0) |

well... you have to do what you have to do.
But... it is always nice to move out with people you know for the first time. It helps you get your feet wet and understand some of the intricateness of t all.
Also I would not move in with a stranger of the opposite sex, too much drama. Seriously stay away form that one. |

Broaden your horizons - unless you like being alone. |

Yes, but do you have any children or do they have any children be cautious about that.. Becareful some people will have you pay a deposit or money down then if you do not move in they keep it anyway. that happend to me. good luck |

When I was much younger i always had roommates. It was always a friend, someone I could trust with my stuff while I am not there.
You want to be sure they will pay their part of the expenses and rent on time, that you trust them and that you understand how any cost of meals will be shared if they are shared.
I would never choose a stranger as a room mate.
It has been 30 years since I last had a room mate. The last three I had are still good friends of mine- I got a call from one yesterday (come to think of it he was a friend of a friend- not anyone a really knew until I moved into his house). I did not think any were terrible, but some were nicer than others. |

Roommates eat all your food, are loud when you're trying to sleep, bring over their skeezy boyfriends, leave crap in the sink, let their dog pee on the carpet, smoke in the house, leave the front door unlocked, forget to empty the dryer, don't clean out the refrigerator, steal your DVDs, steal your CDs, hijack your laptop, spill Cheerios all over the coffee table, microwave disgusting smelling food, and erase all your recorded TV programs.
I love my roomies! |
|

Kagome

Personally, I wouldn't have a roommate. During the inital interview with the person looking for the roommate, you don't know their ciminal record, their mental health, if they have a violent streak, if they are on drugs, if they steal... Way too many variables for my tastes. |

The only roommates I've ever liked were Asian... Something about over the centuries of being overcrowded, they know best how to get along with others. Westerners don't make the best roommates, unless you and they are already friends, and even there it is hard to remain friends and live together.... |

best thing to do is go to visit them, talk to them, see what they're like.
If you like them, go for it, if not, don't!
Worst comes to worse you can move out! |

i definitely think you should meet the people before you agree to move in with them! |
