Would you rather buy a home with a pool or without?
I am selling my home which has a pool with a wrap around deck. We don't know if we should sell the house withouut it or not. We need to know what appeals to more buyers.

I would say to leave it. Otherwise there'll be a big brown spot where the pool used to be. If people see the pool there, and they want to buy the house they'll buy it, and if they don't want the pool, they may tell you that they don't want the pool. You could put in the listing sheet for the house that the pool is negotiable.

The Pool is an asset to the right buyer. Someone that has small children may be opposed because of the risk factor.

I would market it. In today's market you need all the spiffs you can come up with because your home will need to stand out in a slower marketplace.

Just a thought.

I've always heard it's cheaper to buy a pool than to build one. Obviously summertime is the time to buy a pool. I saw an ad in the classifieds a couple of years ago that said something like "POOL FOR SALE...includes 3br 2ba house...."

Let the purchaser decide if they want it or not.

I just saw this on TV the other day.....they say no pool, me personally, I want the pool. Less expense for me to put in. I would also say to leave it to the buyer. If you remove the pool for a buyer, do not change your selling price. Big No No.

If it's an above-ground pool I would remove it all and re-sod the backyard so the grass looks perfect and beautiful. Pools are only desirable if they're in-ground and don't take up the whole yard. Otherwise buyers want the yard space. Especially if it's a family neighborhood where couples with young kids will have to worry about the safety issues.

I would like the pool but most buyers prefer no pool. You might try to sell local or even on ebay. If you live around KY I would be interested in it. Good luck on the sell!

Many people (depending on where you are) consider a pool a PITA, but what would it cost you to remove it, and modify your deck? -- Might be something to consult with your Realtor about -- offer to remove it if the buyer doesn't want it.

With. It makes a better lonf term investment. Just don't turn it into a rental. I am a Realtor.

I'd like a pool -- especially one with a wrap around deck. I'd say leave it. It's a good selling point.

Without...from my experience a pool takes a lot of maintenance. Keeping the house right and in order is more than enough.

~girlfriday~
Definitely without. It all depends on what part of the country you are in. FL, CA, NV. . .people want pools. Ask your realtor what people want - they usually have the pulse on that stuff.

Bina
keep the pool many families, especially with young children, really like having a pool with a wrap around deck.

Personally, I would love the pool! But not everyone does! If you have an agent, just tell them to let all potential buyers know that you are willing to take or leave the pool, depending on what they are looking for. (I am assuming that this is an above ground pool?) This way you market to all potential buyers.
