Mine stunk. Their slogan in their ads is "When banks compete, you win". I received a Good Faith Estimate from them and the closing costs seemed a little on the high side. I contacted a local broker, who dropped the rate .2% and cut the costs almost in half. When asked if Lending Tree would match it, they replied encouragingly. But when I sent in the GFE, they suddenly quit returning my calls and e-mails. Hmmm.... |

.2 isn't all that much. it's something but that will only save you like 30-40 bucks a month in payments. people like lendingtree have to bump up their costs in order to make ends meet and screw you over. brokers will always be a better bet for your mortgages. and your new GFE probably did scare them off. less money in it for them |

With Lending Tree, I didn't get the best rate (like you I went to a local broker and got a better deal). I also ended up with a world of spam mail and luckily I used a "disposable yahoo address" and terminated that particular e mail. Not only lending tree but some weird spam from random "financial and prescription drug" advertisements. As well as a lot of those foreign banking scams. |

The whole name "lending tree" tells me they think money grows on trees, which is stupid to even give that impression.
They are not the ones to borrow money from. |

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!! Yes, did get a great deal of varied offers, but also took a hit on my credit score, my credit report got zillions of hits, and regardless of what they tell you, it had a NEGATIVE effect, dropping my score by almost 100 points! Do yourself a favor and check out companies like DITECH and credit unions, usually best. Good luck! |

Two almost transactions, neither closed. Finally had to move my buyers to local lenders to get to closing. Fees were most likely high because the lender had to pay a fee to them so they pass that on to the consumer. That's how they make their money. They do the same thing with real estate sales people. They say how qualified and superior their "agents" are but in truth anyone willing to pay them is qualified. |

What people don't realize about LendingTree.com is SOMEONE has to pay for all that advertising. It costs a fortune to get leads from lendingtree and that cost is passed onto the customer.
Personally, I give "Fair" deals and I have repeat customers for life because I'm upfront and competitive. I've been in mortgage for going on 6yrs and trust me, the one thing that keeps me here is word of mouth advertising, not lead companies like Lendingtree.com. |

Look... I'm a Mortgage Broker and the last thing I would recommend you do it ever go to Lending Tree...When you give them your social security number to pull your credit history they don't actually pull it themselves... Each individual bank that has an interest in your business pulls it... I have had many clients who could not qualifiy for loans or better rates because their credit scores had dropped to dramatically... I have had clients whose credit has been pulled up to 22 times...Get out of there as quickly as you can!!! |

i went through lending tree and all it did was lower my credit score from all the credit checks and then cause an overload of inquires on my credit so it makes it hard to get a loan for anthing...lending trees slogan should be, when banks complete they all screw you up the butt so that they can win |
