i live in a shared student house and our main bathrooms shower/bath has been broken for about 6 months now and nothing has been done about it, although we call them all the time the fob us off with excuses and say stuff like the plumber is getting the part etc. We are lucky there are 2 other bathrooms in the house with working showers but these are en-suite and its a pain in the mornings. We are going to tell the letting agency tomorrow that we are only going to pay half rent until its fixed, when it is fixed we will give them the remaining rent. We are gonna put the money in an account so it is there waiting to be paid in as soon as the problem is fixed. is this ok to do, legally etc? and is there anything else i we can do? someone told me that not paying rent is breaking our agreement, but the letting agency have broken theres by not fixing the problems around the house and its been more than 6 months... thanks to anyone who has any advice for me it would be much appreciated.
