There are usually some less than desirable places that will take people in your position if you are desperate, but that is about it. |

Often you can get over bad credit by offering a much larger than normal deposit which shows the landlord you have a lot to lose if you default on the lease. Getting over the criminal history takes a bit of persuasion on your part, but often that can be done by providing documentation about the offense to minimize the issue. It is best to be upfront with all potential landlords about both of these issues before they run your credit report and are informed on your past. Remember honesty is the best policy. You could also get you in-laws to cosign the lease to get over the past bad credit. |

It will be very difficult - try smaller landlords - we are sometimes more forgiving. There are also "rent-to-own" types out there that are a bit dubious to deal with, but will rent/sell to you with poor credit. In our area, they rent to you for a year, then sell on contract to you. Not a bad deal, depending. They're famous for foreclosing instantly, but keep up with your payments. |
