@@@@is it true interest rates are coming down to avoid a housing crash@@@@@?
is the housing market in london oing to crash im thinking of selling up in ealing

Doubt it.

It will most likjely drop a little bit but not a huge amount as there is a shortage of hosues.

There has been a drop of around 3% since Nov 2007 in the UK, but its actually gone up by 1% in London.

the interest rates coming down will not make a difference..the banks will not pass these on to us..in fact I know that on Monday some banks are putting their rates up and some products avaliable at close of business today are being withdrawn and will not be avaliable on Monday..the market needs to come down bcoz its way..way..way too over valued..and there has been too much fraud...the good thing about markets is that they correct themselves without man's help...they go up and they come down...they will come down and then in about 2yrs will start climbling again..just ride it out..a home is a home regardless of what the market is doing....

I bloody hope so! I'm sorry, I shouldn't really say that because that means bad things for far too many people but as it stands hardly anyone can actually afford to live in their homes. Interest rates seem to be going way beyond national minimum wage which the majority of the country are on resulting in everyone being skint and not being able to have many luxuries if any at all and most of us becoming depressed. My DH busts his backside, six days a week in an extremely physical job and for what? So we can just get by! And that's not good enough. I have not long had a baby so I am unable to work at the minute but if I did go to work I would be criticised for leaving my baby in a nursery. Anyway I digress, houses in my town just aren't selling, people cant afford to take any less money for their homes but at the same time people just cant afford to give the asking price causing the market to stand still and yet again no one to be in a good situation. We are in the middle of a massive marina development too so everyone is expecting house prices to go up, personally I think they are living in cloud cuckoo land. I'm not sure of the situation in Ealing but either stay where you are or try and find someone with enough money willing to buy your house fast! Good luck to you x

No more likely to go up. Sell now, will be harder for next couple of years ... banks are restricting mortgages ...so harder to get one, also dearer so not that many buyers about unless you sell at a silly price,

The housing market in London is down, but it is not going to crash. If you can wait until end of the year, house price may go up.
Interest rate may come down to enable people to apply for new credit cards and also to use their existing ones and pay less interest for their use and to pay for goods and servces. This way consumers spendings will increase and in turn boost the economy.

If you can sell, sell now - it's going down and will be for a while.

Even a drop in interest rates won't help much. The banks don't want to lend unless you are guaranteed to repay so fewer people will be able to get mortgages - and banks won't do 100% mortgages if they expect prices to drop, so fewer buyers again...

seems im in an ok situation with renting - i think i`l carry on..........

Yes the market is going to crash everywhere

Sell now and accept a low offer to get shot of the place. You'll be glad you did.

John
The interest rates should actually be coming up .

I was reading yesterday that house prices could drop as much as 20% leaving upto 3,000,000 people with negative equity.
