Do the kerbs' of your families homes or relatives homes and take photos.
This creates a portfolio of work so people can see your standard and result.
If possible get them to write a complimentary letter saying how pleased they are with your work and show it to prospective clients.
Your price should be the cost of the paint, the cost of your time , and the cost of the stencils divided into the job.
For instance if a can of paint costs $5.00 and does ten numbers then it is .50 c a number put 50% markup = .75c, if it takes 10 minutes for one number and you want to earn $12.00 an hour then that is $2.00 a number, the replacement cost of the stencil is $1.00 each and they last 5 jobs that is 20c a use plus 50% =.30c.
so one number is .75 +.30 + 2.00 =$3.05
2 numbers is $1.50 +60 +4.00 = $6.10 and so on.
Some names, Angel numbers, (Gabrielle was an angel) Kerb your enthusiasm!, INDA House numbers,
Advertise in shop windows, your local newspaper or drop flyer's in letter boxes.
Ignore the naysayers here , I am really encouraged to see a young person with some get up and go , instead of some got up and went as a big obese lardasse in front of a play station
If all the successful people listened to the never rans we would still be in the stone age.
Your spirit will see you make it big as you get older, believe in yourself and you will succeed.
If you believe in yourself , others will see that and they will believe in you too. The rest , who don't matter anyway ,will be left behind.
Some rules of Business;
- Run it as a business , whilst it is good to be on everyones good side you ultimately have to make a business decision on occasion
- Dont say YES to a job you are not equipped or practiced enough to do.
- Charge a fair price for a good job
- Don't take on more work than you can do
- Don't make promises you cant keep
- Always use the best stock for the best job and charge accordingly
- Your customer is King
- Dont hire anybody you don't trust.
- Trust and train everyone else you hire.
- You are the Boss, don't overcommitt yourself.
- Set goals , and achieve them with new goals in mind, always move forward.
- A customer complaint is an advice of a failure in your process , not a comment about a failure in you. Deal with complaints as a challenge with a view to a win /win and you will always win.
Good luck , well done on the initiative. Spring is a great time for this sort of business as people start to take real pride in the front of their houses . |

Okay ,dude, I'm eleven too! Now listen.I have a small summer business too and its hard man. it took me whole year to plan it. But ,anyway, you could call it Gabe's Paint Job!(I know...kinda cheesy) You could price 10 or 15 dollars depending on the colors. it would be really cool, dude. P.S. I would so let you paint my curb...it sounds awesome, dude! P.S.S. My business is dog washing, grooming, and walking...and skateboard polishing. |

You should charge $5. Maybe more but no more than $10. I would pay for this. I like helping kids. Cutting grass is good too. I pay a neighbour kid to do mine. The good thing is it grows back so you're always working. |

You'll have to contact the city to see if that is even allowed. It probably is not because you can compromise the visability of the numbers, which is vital for emergency vehicles. |

Have you gone around your area to survey how many people would be interested in this service to see if it is worth doing?
i think it is a good idea even if it's not practical all the time it's a good thought.
how bout other stencilling as well people might want random stuff like glow in the dark stars or something? or flowers bla bla bla.
anyway i would charge depending on size start from like $5 and then up 1 dollar more per size increase. |

I think there is no age limit, in terms of owning a business. it depends where you want to go with it.
At your current age you cant really start a "BUSINESS" unless you have the capital to back it up.
START: I would recommend that you start with at least one friend, split the earnings 50/50 of curse, that way you are going to have a bigger business area, your neighborhood and your friends. I would recommend that you use an oil base paint that way it will take years for the paint to come off, don't get it on your hands.
PRICE: To figure out the price you must take in to account 2 types of costs.
1. one time cost items, like the shapes of the.
2. continuous cost like, Gas, for transportation, and paint.
After that sum it all up, and then figure out the price, use percentages, make sure that the price is not to high,
Logo: Well am not that very creative so you are by your self with that, but that where your parents, and Friends come in.
OH! and you must make your work sell its self so if I was doing that I would have more than one color per number, you have to make it stand out.
Good luck starting up that little business. |

it's not a bad idea, but understand there will be a lot of start up costs, and you'll have to combat prejudices based on age, as most people consider 11 to be too young to know what they're doing. Still, it is possible for you to do this, as long as you don't fall under the pressure.
Business name: Gabrielle's Curb Stenciling
Price: I agree with an earlier answer $5-10 per house
Logo: Don't even worry about that, just advertise your business directly without one.
See below for other ideas
I would not let one, no.
Ideas for your business:
Start off with one or both of your parents supervising your work -- have one of them make the business transaction while you do the work. Do this for the first 5-10 houses you do, and ask the homeowners for a reference saying you did good work. After you've collected at least 5 good references, you can most likely continue your work without your parents' supervision.
Get your business license as soon as possible. This will be a large part of your startup costs, but having one will show homeowners you're serious about your business.
Normally I'd recommend putting an ad in your paper, but with your limited level of transportation, I'd say your best mode of advertising would be flyers or door-hangers that you can cover your neighborhood with so that you can spread the word and start receiving phone calls.
I hope these ideas help you. |

somehow im thinking you got this idea from the Simpson's,unless you happen to stumble upon a block of houses with no addresses already on the houses your not going to have much luck because no one is going want their address in two places,.did you take into account snow(if you get it where you live (acid rain, maybe) lol and rain in general depending on your spray paint, cars parked in front of the numbers, mailmen having to do the extra walking,im sorry kid but that is a dead on arrival idea,i know your 11 and you want to make money but i truthfully wouldn't pay you to do that,i could do it myself if i really wanted it,your going to have to stick with kool aid stands and wait till your 16 and get a legitimate job ,A for effort though |
