Any advice on increasing sales for my business??

I help to run a small business selling via ebay and a website called www.rustoway.com

Just lately business has been quite and just wondered if anyone out there could look and possibly advice what I can do to increase sales...

Update you sites meta tags or whatever they are to improve search engine hits.

I tried "rust prevention" and rustoway was nowhere.

Consider buying advertising on a suitable car related message board etc.

I think your gettina lot of good advice here..but i looked at ur website and id like to see what would happen if i didnt use ur product! I'd also would see about putting some banners on some car websites.. i helped with www.texasracers.net.. i know ur not in texas but for simluar websites in ur area.. make some banner ads! maybe go to carshows...you have a good demographic of clients.."car people" now u just need to advertise where they are looking!!.SOME car magizines allow u to put line ads in the mag for free! check em out

i would say try to put ads in the paper to get more bizz or call peole and tell them to spread da word

ask your customers. why did they buy from you? do they know anyone who might be interested in getting your product. what about lease companies managing company car fleets? get some contacts at people like Lex. word of mouth is the best kind of marketing so think about how you can create some - attend some business events maybe where you get to showcase your product (like BNI - there's bound to be a chapter near you). also, you can talk to your local business link - they get public money to support businesses like yours to grow.

I thnk you need to create more awareness on the services you are rendering, highlighting its imporatance to prospective customers. Also, you need to capture the confidence of your current customers. REtain their loyalty by instilling confidence in them.

I do car-boots with car -parts (second hand) some new part as well, send me an email about your products & i may try some on my stall, iff you require my phone num we can get in contact, D.F;

Make modifications required on your URL , and discuss the issue with eCommerce expert and also arrange,

1. Customers to place order directly on your URL, too.
2. Tie up with your bankers, so that perspective buyers remittance hit your Account in shortest possible time.
3. Buy Links on concerned URL.
4. You may consider other unconventional method, to market and sell your product.
5. Organise, Product promotional activities.

Its no good being in business or even being the best, unless people know you are there. Okay, so you're on ebay, but think about the thousands of people who don't go onto ebay but might be interested in what you have to offer. Do house to house leafleting, cards in shop windows, ads in local free papers, etc. Keeping a business profitable and growing is a never-ending task. Stand still and wait for customers to come to you means you are going backwards. You have to make it happen.

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is to first set up a website and publish its domain name on major search directories such as Google.com, Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?... and MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these search directories to provide them with goods and services. In a sense, these search directories are a very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using such "generic" queries will not be able to discover your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website, in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which, when observed and committed in designing of a website with placement of various critical metatags that can surely achieve a high search engine presence and increase Internet traffic to your website. These metatag strategies work well with published webpages at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based website, make sure to fill-in the property entries such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the Internet audience and their incoming setup. For example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages take too long to load up and therefore analog users will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the Flash site. Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which should consist of no more than 65 characters separated by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which best describes one's goods and services.

And the very last category - "Keywords" are also somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which is defined as the loading, and submission of repetitive words into a particular metatag category. "Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported to Google's spamreport.com can result in the elimination of your website from their search directory.

Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on Yahoo.com: Begin with the search query "pizza downtown los angeles." It will bring up some 1.4 million+ websites as results. Check out where "Pizza Next Door" is ranked. It's in the Top Five! Again, Pizza Next Door's high web presence was achieved by proper web design and placement of relevant metatags according to Yahoo's publication guidelines.
