most work at home jobs are just other jobs that can be done at home, smaller scale, etc.

I have been self employed for the past 10 yrs. I do automotive touch up paint work out of my Blazer. Home is office, supplies, etc. I also do web design for dealerships. All work done at home besides pictures I take while out. And recently I have began a special type of candle company. Again, all from home.

These get rich quick, just sit on a computer for few hours and make hundreds, etc. All scams. If money was that simple to make, why would anyone work?

Once you get past the idea of making money quick and easy, you will start to make money. When I started to do my paint work, I had hoped for $15-$20 per hour. Instead I average $63-$75 per hour. My web sites, I do about 4 hours of work and get paid $250 a week, or $62.50 per hour. And candles, I have a profit margin of around 68% of price, and if I figure up volume, I am over $100 per hour when I get selling.

Best advice, do what you love, not for the money. When you do what you love, the passion shows, that passion is what brings the big bucks cause due to that passion, you are the best at what you do. It has worked for me. Celebrate my 10 yr anniversary as self employed this thursday, the 10th.

I have been doing Avon for almost 2 years and I feel that the company as a whole was a legitimate company and for $10 it was well worth paying for because it was all I had to lose not hundreds of dollars like any scamming companies. Avon has been around for over 100 years so they are as legit as they come. If interested just go to www.sellingavoniseasy.com for more info.

I think you have to go with your gut if you feel something fishy about the company you have to go with that and also do your research.

It is nice to see that you have received some good advice.

I have my own home business. I have tried many direct sales businesses and I'm still with a few. The ones I'm with work well with my own company. You can find a direct sales opportunity for just about any interests...pets, home goods, food, etc.

I felt comfortable starting my own business because of the experience I received through direct sales.

If you are worried that something may be a scam, I recommend participating in business and wahm forums and asking questions about the opportunity first. Get different opinions.

Good luck.

I run a few different businesses from home. I have used my many years of "trial and error" experience to develop a site that helps others find legitimate ways to earn extra income from home. I supply daily news, marketing tips, FAQ, and several other resources to help save the less experienced person time and money.

Just think this way. If you can want to scam someone and steal their identity and money, what would you do?

Do enough research and find what is the most common mistake people did to get their identity stolen.

Start with local gov or city and find resource about small business in your area. Join forum or group to post questions. Don't get too exciting that someone answer your questions and provide all your contact information without check where they are from.

search the name of the company who contact your and history of their business. There are many many hight profile company making $$$ from you but never get you anywhere.

It took me three years and I am happy with what I am doing. I'm not much of a products person. I have fun, make money. You have to really get the note pad out and ask all the questions. Not all companies are scams. Just do your homework. Find what you are passionate about. I'm passionate about people.

I have a home based business that has seemed to take off. Like you, I was worried about getting scammed, so I read many books and researched the company and product. The business that I run is a network marketing company, and you can get more information by visiting www.teamdungan.mygelfusion.com. If you are interested get back with me. Unlike the typical scam, this business will require some hard work from you, but will payoff ten-fold if you will allow it to.

I noticed you keep getting more business opportunities even though you asked for "business of their own". You have asked a really good question and I was hoping to read some good answers. I have come accross many of those scams, MLM's, and companies that need too much money to sign up or advertise it. I have finally come accross a real company that is not a scam and costs you absolutely nothing. I am not here to sell you anything, just to let you know that you can make money here without spending a dime! Check it out if you are interested at http://www.mypowermall.com/Biz/Home/2676.
I promise you it wont cost anything. You have nothing to lose.

Hi,

Getting scammed is normally a result of wanting to get rich quickly using a scheme that cannot work.

It's also what happens when greedy people don't check out the facts thoroughly enough before getting involved.

The first order of the day is caution.

The second is education. Make sure you have a really good understanding of what can and cannot work in the home business industry.

There is a number of factors to look for when evaluating a home business, and importantly when you wish to determine what's real and what is not.

# 1. Any legitimate outfit will allow and encourage you to do your homework, and in fact the most professional operators in the industry will openly help you in your quest. You should never be asked to pay for anything while you are exploring the business model. You should however expect to pay money when you get started (that applies to any business) but if anyone asks for money up front so you can explore it, turn them down.

# 2. The history of the business model is crucial. Start-up outfits are very high risk as the majority will fail in the first 3 to 5 years and take your money with them. Look for a business model with a proven track record of at least 10 years. How can you check their track record...?

# 3. Avoid any business opportunity that is not backed by a a public company. This is because by Federal law, a public company must make all its fully-audited financial records available to any member of the public who wants to look. So you can quickly see whether the company is in trouble, going backwards, net profit, what it pays its staff etc. A private outfit will not divulge this critical information, and importantly, if it does, you cannot trust it because private companies are not held to the same regulatory standards.

# 4. Seek out success stories. If all you get is 3 written testimonials on a website, run away! You want to speak to real people who are having real success with the business. Ask them tough questions and find out the details. Don't be afraid to really explore it.

And finally, when you satisfy those 4 major points, remember that in this life there is no free ride. Success in your own home business will depend on what you do, how well you do it and your attitude and mindset. Expecting a guarantee of success is what keeps the majority of people failing - they never take full responsibility.

There is enormous opportunity in the home business industry - your task is find something that's legitimate and suits you. Avoid the cowboys and the "get rich quick" people who give the industry a poor name.

For more information you can download audios and ebooks without cost at ArkleySolutions dot com. It's a very helpful resource site.

I sincerely trust this helps you.

Warmly,

Slav

NO scam here we are listed with the Better Business Bureau Online. If you like candles, these products are in high demand and sell very well online and off. I got started by joining their Candle Club which gives you monthly products, exclusive online training and a flash hosted and maintained monthly website. I did not get scammed this works period. I became a Diamond Director in just over a month. I believe in helping my people also and I am currently training others to do the same. If this interests you at all, please check out my source below. We are growing quite rapidly. Just read the Newsletters on the site about the Company.

Any company that asks you for money upfront for providing a work from home job is most likely to be a scam.If you are interested in working from home, many reputed companies like Workathomeagent,Liveops,Alpine Access employ home based callers to answer phone calls for them. These companies do not ask for any upfront payment. You can find more information at

I am working with Discovery Toys and at first I contacted the company and I hesitated to go through with it, but I did a lot of research and decided to give it a try. Now I have been doing it for awhile and am making decent part-time money. I chose this type of business because there are a lot of areas that don't sell these products, so the customer base is all mine. I am not thinking of getting door to door sales, I am trying to go for the bigger picture and get the businesses involved. Anyways take a look at it. If it's not for you I am sure you will find the niche that is.
