Anyone actually know of a good home based business?
I need extra income and am confused as to the many promises of home based businesses. Don't want to get ripped off so would like to know how to find out which ones are actually workable.

I'd go with something that sells consumable products - Tastefully Simple or Candles or something. That way, your customers will use up what they order and need to order more. It's a self-fulfilling business.

Tupperware and Pampered Chef are great - but once you buy it, you keep it forever. That's not so good for the person that's trying to sell MORE of it.

I would love to share with you what I do. The product is consumable so customers use it up and buy more! I have been in this for a little over a year. It is profitable from the get-go because you make 50% on every sale! It is an awesome opportunity to make money and lots of new friends. I will be looking for your response.

Its very hard to find something that isnt a scam now a days. I joined this site a few months ago just looking for a little extra income. Its free and all you have to do is continue surfing the internet like you do already. It logs how long you have been on the net in a given month and then sends you a check. You wont get rich off it but its money for doing something you were going to do anyway. Download the viewbar and give it a shot. Its worth a try. Here is the link.

There are some many out there and everyone believes or says theirs is the best. I would first think about what is important to you what are you looking for in a company and product. I made my decision based on 1) I used and loved the product just like i would tell a friend about a great sale or restaurant I could confidently tell them about the products. 2) the company I can from a financial background so I research the company and liked what I found a solid business plan that has been around since 1963 and is still relevant today. 3) reorder business it is a consumable product I saw this first hand while on an extended maternity leave :)
There is a site that list all the direct sales companies out there however it can get overwhelming since there are so many these days. Pick a category that interest you food crafts etc. and start there. Good Luck.

See my profile - all 3 sites are survey sites that pay daily via Paypal or by check. I will be more than happy to send you copies of my payments from all 3.
All are FREE to join. Only have to be at least 13 years old
Good Luck

I know exactly what you're talking about! It's hard to separate out the real deal from the scams.

There are a lot of home-based businesses that you could do, but you have to decide what interests you the most. I couldn't stand the thought of calling up friends and relatives to schedule home parties (LOL, I'm sure they couldn't stand me either!).

Focus on what you what you know and like, but don't be afraid to learn new things. And yes, sometimes, it does take money to earn money, so don't be afraid to spend money for a legitimate business opportunity. You just have to make sure to do the research.

Here are my suggestions on finding a legitimate opportunity that's right for YOU:

- Set your financial goals -- Are you just looking for extra income or a potential full-time income? How long (and hard) are you willing to work to meet your goal?

- Determine if you are looking for a JOB or a BUSINESS -- there is a distinct difference between the two and you want to focus your energies appropriately for the best results.

- If looking for a JOB, what are your marketable skills and previous experiences? If you are looking for a BUSINESS, go with your passions, things that interest and motivate you the most. Build a list and use that to begin your search. General rule of thumb: Never pay for a job (businesses, on the other hand, usually involve some expenses).

- Review your budget -- know ahead of time what you are willing and able to invest into your business, including start-up costs and ongoing maintenance and promotion.

- Find a rep to contact, check out their websites, ask questions, do your own independent research.

- I personally also check out a company's status and consumer feedback on www.bbb.org and www.ripoffreport.com

Hope this info helps, best wishes on your search...
