An excellent source for finding a legitimate home-based business is to check out Direct Selling Association (DSA) at http://www.dsa.org. DSA is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers.
When you find a legitimate host travel agency, ask them some of the following questions:
Are you publicly traded?
Are you SEC regulated?
Do you offer health insurance?
What are your total travel sales?
How many agents are involved in your company?
Be careful because some of these companies pose themselves as legit, but they only sell travel stores, not travel.

it is your personal preference, I won't market to you on this site and direct you anywhere but there are a few out there that have a range of start-up cost, with non related profit potentials.
I will say that basically all those sites that almost everyone uses to travel, were started in someones home...granted now they are enormous.

If you are seriously looking for to become a home-based agent then my advice would be to find a reputable host agency.
You'll have no problem finding clients - you have only to look as far as your friends and family, not to mention, personal travel to begin. You're probably already helping them with their travel plans anyway. Having said that you'll have to work your business to make money.
The internet is a competition of sorts. YOU will be your best product. Your customer service is the key to your success. Clients will come to you as an expert. Your job is to do the research and save them time & money.
While many people will use the internet to book their travel - there are several products only a travel agent can sell.

BTW - you can start a home-based agency for very little cost. Please don't believe the Host agency that tells you that you have to pay $500 or more to start. It simply isn't true. |
