I don't know what your interests are rather than making money. I can tell you what I've been doing for the past 6 years and point you out to a few other home based business's of people I know that do very well in theres as well.
Over six years ago my husband and I started our own home based business in the telecommunication industry. It well supports our family of six. We also took part of that money and started a non profit organization called SOFTIN helping the handicap, mentally impaired, challenged, elderly and youth and created different programs. Most home based business's cost under $500 depending on what your doing.
We partnered up with a 15 year old world wide company that offers services that people use every day and pay for anyway. Services like Local and Long distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phone services, VOIP, Satallite and all the major cellular phone companies like Verizon, AT&T. T-mobile, Sprint, Alltell, Nextell etc have partnered up too. How many people do you know, or know of that use any or most of these types of services? Everyone uses these services and pays for them. You save them money on the services that they are already using and every month they pay their bills you make a percentage off of it. It's an incredible amount of income you can bring in with this industry. It's also pretty simple to do from home.
