About the only way your going to make a sufficient amount of money working out of your home, is to start your own home based business. Everything else, you'd be lucky to make minimum wage. Which is not enough money to support a family.
I'm not sure what things you like to do, so I'll tell you a little bit about what my husband and I do and point you out to a few other ones.
Over six years ago, we got started in our home based business in the telecommunications industry. We partnered up with a 15 year old world wide company that offers services that people use every day and pay for anyway. Services such as local and long distance telephone services, VOIP, Internet, video phones, digital, Satallite T.V. and all the major cellular phone companies like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Alltel, Nextel, Disney etc have partnered up with them too. How many people do you know, or know of, that has one or more of these types of services? Think about how nice it would be to be able to save them money on the services that they are already using every day and paying for anyway, then every time they pay their telecommunications bills each month, you make a percentage every single month. There is a lot of money in this industry. We've been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated us the 22nd fastest growing company.

The ones that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ).

I have other ideas that may help - one of them is an online opportunity but another is one that will require a little effort to market yourself - try some data entry for local businesses, many of them don't have the time to do it in-house and will gladly pay someone else to do it. Professionals are a good place to start, lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, etc - they need their "in-house" folks doing other things rather than busy work.
