There really are legit home based businesses and someone already said it, most of those aren't advertised. I wrote a blog recently about advice on working from home (you can find a link in the 2nd paragraph of my profile here - mailnly because answers does not allow posting of links even though some do). At any rate, it is not an advertisement to get you into my biz or anyone else's for that matter, but hopefully will help you start getting educated on what to look for, how to do your own research, pitfalls, things they don't tell you to get you signed up, etc.
Also consider this, if you have to have more than one business to create an income??? Why is that? How much attention are you going to be able to give each one day to day? Been there, done that.
If I can help any further, just holler

It depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for actual work, like databse entry or something similar...be careful. You pay a fee just to get a list of places that hire people to do databse entry from home...doesn't mean you will get the job.
If you are looking into Direct Sales, there are a lot that aren't scams. In direct sales, you are a representative of the company, you sell their products to others and make a profit from it. Most you will have inventory at home. The best thing to do, if you want to do direct sales, is to find something you would actually use yourself, and that you feel others will want and use. I sell gourmet candles...I have a bit of stock, but I use them, too. Basically, I pay wholesale for the candles, then resell them to make a profit. I'm too lazy to sell much, lol...but I use them everyday...why not buy my candles at wholesale, and if we need a little extra money, I can go out and sell some.
Some direct sales companies are free to join, others have a start-up cost which gives you product to get started with...so if you sell (or use) the product, the start-up pays for itself. Some people in direct sales just join for the discount (raises hand). So watch which one you join, because some do have a quota. You have to sell so much each month/quarter. When most people think of Direct Sales companies, they think of Pampered Chef, Princess House, Tupperware...these are direct sales companies....but there are hundreds out there...I never even realized how many till I joined a couple (it is addicting, so be careful, lol).
Good luck, and I hope you find something that works for you! |

Most are scams. The way to spot a legitimate one is to find someone who actually does it. If you don't find anyone doing it at home, that's OK. But see if you can find someone doing it anywhere. Ask them if there's a home market. Whatever you do, don't take the word of some infomercial jockey. |

For an answer to this question, send me $20 and a self addressed stamped envelope and I'll mail you a guide on how to find a legitimate home based business where you can make $1,000 per week for only a few hours of work. |

If you want to make money online and wanted to work from home, go for freelancing jobs. They are only one, that will pay you and its free to become a freelancer. The Internet has opened up many freelance opportunities, expanding markets and helping to build it into one of the largest economic segments for many economies. You dont need to pay to get the job. Development for freelancing has been especially high for software development, website design, information technology, and business documentation. Freelance practice varies greatly. Some require clients to sign written contracts<!--while others may perform work based on verbal agreements, perhaps enforceable through the very nature of the work. Some freelancers may provide written estimates of work and request deposits from clients. Get more information on the website. You can almost find any freelance job you want.

Payment for freelance work also varies greatly. Freelancers may charge by the day or hour, or on a per-project basis. Instead of a flat rate or fee, some consultants have adopted a value-based pricing method-->based on the perceived value of the results to the client. By custom, payment arrangements may be upfront, percentage upfront, or upon completion. For more complex projects, a contract may set a payment schedule based on milestones or outcomes. |

I personally know three households that have one person working a second job that is bringing in a good second income, allowing them to have one person home for the kids. As been said you have to do your home work on each business opportunity you like. First is there a real product that is being marketed. Can you get behind it. Check out the plan, do you have to buy 200 units each month it is up to you to sell them, I would think twice. Do people want to buy over and over again, your client base will grow and you can make a great living or second income. In any case you must put in the work. Check out this biz opp Travel-ALot.biz . |
