Its not a legal requirement to have insurance its just a smart thing to do. If there were an incident the stable owner and everybody involved could end up paying the total cost of the claim. In other words they could stand to loose everything. |

Riding schools should have 3rd party insurance, most schools encourage pupils to get their own insurance as well |

There are many different types of insurance, they need public liability insurance for a start. However, it is perfectly possible that they can require club members to obtain accident insurance for themselves, it usual though for the organisation to facilitate this for members by doing the admin via an approved broker/agent/company. And if they allow someone to use the facilities who does not have the necessary insurance then they are breaking the law. |

i'd call the better business bureau .. they'd tell to get insurance or no business. as a city clerk for the number or someone you should talk to about it but don't say names just yet.. |

Insurance is required under the Riding Establishments Act 1970.
As licencing is required by the Local Authority that is where I would go to in the first case.

If they are giving lessons without insurance, they are responsible for the consequences of any accidents. They could "self-insure" and hope a lot. The people taking the lessons are NOT responsible for insuring themselves. If anything happens, sue. |
