Not really. There is some actual medical transcription work, but it's hard to come by and even the people who've gone to school for it are struggling to find work. The supply is pretty finite, and everyone else is getting ripped off.
Try looking for a telecommuting job locally. |

In my opinion, there are good online jobs available. Over the last 2 years I have been working online as a virtual customer service rep for a credit card company. It’s honestly a very easy job---I mainly answer e-mails, add features and address general inquiries.
If I can give one piece of advice though when looking for an online job---NEVER pay a start up fee to join a work at home company or directory. Very few legitimate companies will require you to pay them in order for them in turn to pay you. It defeats the point! Moreover, there are plenty of free sites available! :)
Depending on your skill set---there is a tremendous range in employment opportunities you might be interested in, both part time or full time—anywhere from data entry and transcription services---to virtual customer care---to writing articles/product reviews and webpage design.

Yes, there are, but you have to do your research and know how to spot the real thing from a money trap. There are sites that will actually hire you and then sites that say, oh pay us X dollars and we'll tell you about all the companies that hire...pass on those.
Sites like eLance, SoloGig, and Guru are freelance boards where you bid on projects. Great places for at home work but you will have to pay a monthly or quarterly fee. But, I think these sites are worth it.
For transcription work, search for transcription companies. Read their "about us" page. Look for companies that have been around a long time. Call the Better Business Bureau and check them out. Look for hiring information on their website.

I was a medical transcriptionist working from home for 13 years.
Many transcriptionists get their training through a course of study while others carry their medical terminology knowledge with them from other health related fields. You would need to get the terminology down, and then get started. Many companies want experience so there's a catch-22. However, doctors and hospitals may be hiring, and after a time you can work from home as many transcriptionists do.
