I have found a few that require my credit card information, and cost about $99.95 in start up fees. From my experience, any job that required a payment did not work out to be legitimate. Do you know of a solid company that wont rip me off with these "start up fees"??

I do know a couple good legitimate sites to work from home. But as far as your detailed message and start up fees go, that sounds more like not a job, but a home based business opportunity. Which is a legitimate way to work from home as well. Home based businesses actually give you the same income opportunity as a traditional business, without all the over head expenses. Here's an article on home based businesses that explain what these "start up fees" are for, what's involved in home based businesses. I found this article incredible with excellent ideas in different industries that give you business opportunities in which you can run from your home. All these business opportunities are legitimate and they're not a rip off. You are right, any "job" that requires a payment is not a job, however a business would. But you have to work the business to make money. But they are not rip off's. The article explains all of this and misconceptions between companies asking for money to work from them, and business opportunities. There are a big difference.
Now as far as solid companies that are legitimate "jobs" to work from home, there are a couple. I do not know what your qualifications are, work experience etc, so it's difficult to point you out to any particular posittion where you can hire. So I'm going to refer you over to an article on home based jobs in which there a couple companies listed that I know are good because I've known people who have worked for them for at least a year in the past. The article also explains the difference between home jobs and home based business opportunities.
The jobs listed don't require you to pay anything. These are jobs that you would be hired for the position, if you qualified for them. Which I don't know if you do.

I've been doing some work with www.elance.com the past week, all the work is home based, data entry, transcription etc. The only thing is you're competing against people from countries where the hourly rate of pay is a lot lower, so not sure if it would be worth it for you.

Its been updated today to include some Craft type jobs which can be done from home, mainly re-distribution, but it possible to make good money from it if you work hard.
So many online jobs are out there. In fact, to do any online job, you need not want to invest anything. Make sure, you dont pay anything to get jobs online. Forget anyone who just wants to take your money,I personally wouldn't waste my time with surveys etc...
Set up a blog about something you are passionate about and monetize the blog with google adsense and affiliate links. Offer some freebies and quality information and you will make good money online.
The only investment you need to make is a few dollars for web hosting and a little bit of your time. I own several websites doing just this.
I make $2000 a month by doing this and it ain't rocket science |

There are some companies that doesn't require any startup fees but that doesn't mean they're legitimate.
You need to do your research and find out the pros and cons for each opportunities that are presented to you. If you're not comfortable paying in advance, then you might as well offer your service in return for money, right? But that will mean you're limiting the opportunities that is available to you.
You might be surprised when people claim they make $250k per monnth, but you don't have to feel bad about it because it's just your perceived reality.
Open your mind to any possibilities and you will notice that there are actually many opportunities available out there. And this might be the answer. |

God don't u hate answers like that! Just report it! Some people just don't have anything better to do. Anyway, unfortunately when getting involved in your own business there are going to be start up fees, an investment on your part. What is good is home businesses are SOOO much cheaper to start than trying to open a free standing business. Uh, that gets REALLY expensive. So you kinda got to look at it that way. Another thing is be sure you know what your money is going towards. It should be things like a website, products, training,etc. Depending on what type of business you decide on. Your money should NEVER go towards more info on a business. You should know everything you need and want to know about a business for FREE! A legit business should want you to know everything about the company. Oh, you should also find out if your initial fee/investment is all you will be paying. Find out if you will have a monthly fee or have to keep buying products, etc. Research is key. DO RESEARCH before committing to anything. You can find out anything you need to know through the net! You gotta love technology! Also find something that you will enjoy. If you are not happy you probably won't be any good at it. I have experience in this and would be happy to help. I always wanted to find a legitimate job that I could do from my computer and which would allow me flexible hours (I have two very young children). I spent hours and hours on the Internet but everything I found seemed like a scam. Surveys paid but very little. Almost like a couple of cents per hour! I tried reading emails with Inbox Dollars, but they only pay 2 cents per email and won’t pay you until you have at least $30.00!!! That is 1500 emails and when you get to $30.00 and ask for a payment, they will deduct $3.00 for “processing fee”!!!
But I learned that if a company is legitimate, they will be affiliated with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Yes, all online jobs that I found somehow needed an investment but I recently joined SFI. They are affiliated with the BBB, they have everything I needed and it’s free. Free meaning that they will give you an option to become “executive” for free. I personally decided to pay the $29.00 and after only a couple of months not only it is paying for itself but I’m making a profit as well. It is not a get rich quick thing but it is real and you can make good money if you are willing to work at least a couple of hours a day and be an active member. That is what I was looking for.
