Looks like you only make money if you get other people to sign on to the scam you are selling - maybe.
If you are looking to scam people the latest one is Primerica - I heard people are falling for it. You pay a fee to sell people high cost insurance that they don't need and you get a 20% commission. / |

I believe all of these are scams. If you want to earn extra money you should get a "real" part-time job.
If you need to pay any money upfront this is a red flag that it's a scam.

There are many jobs you can do from home, but you have to realize that you are actually going to be working... from home. It can be very challenging, as there are sometimes a lot of distractions in the home that you wouldn't have in an office.

* Internet Girl Friday provides information technology support as well as administrative services for clients nationwide.
* LiveOps provides customer service support for a variety of major corporations.
* Spheris provides support to medical professionals. Its services include medical transcription and clinical documentation.
* Staffcentrix supplies virtual assistants for business clients, including CEOs and upper management of major corporations.
* VIPDesk provides call center support and also offers a home-based concierge service to clients.
* Voicelog provides representatives to perform verifications for transactions done online or by telephone. Many states require changes to telephone service and other remote transactions to be verified by a third party, which VoiceLog provides.
* West At Home also hires home-based customer service agents. They cater to a specific range of industries, specializing in health care and pharmaceutical support, as well as the hospitality industry.
* ODesk is a free website that advertises home-based jobs and allows you to apply for thousands of different jobs in your area of expertise.
Please remember that there a MANY people out there looking for the same thing you are, so you have to have perserverance. But don't give up! The more networking you do, and the more you get your resume out there, the better your chances of finding something. I did! |

Your question tells me you are a little skeptical. That is good because there are a lot of scams out there. It can also be bad if you are so skeptical that you won't get involved in a great opportunity. I would assume that a lot of your skepticism is a result of other people's advice. Just take advice from people who are successful and not from your broke brother-in-law.
Pyramids are illegal and there aren't many that last very long so I wouldn't be so concerned about them. I think you are intelligent enough to spot a pyramid a mile away. There are a lot of good network marketing companies that some uniformed people choose to call a pyramid but they are not.
Besides, the pyramid structure is what most businesses and governments are based on. Look at our government, you have the president followed by the vice president and speaker of the house, followed by the committee chairmen, followed by the, well you get my drift. It goes all the way down to the bottom which would be the aides and secretaries. Same with business, the CEO, the president & vice president, regional managers, district managers, department heads, all the way down to the new guy on the assembly line. The difference is that in business to work your way from the new guy on the line to CEO is almost impossible. If you pull it off, they write books about you.
With network marketing you start as the new guy on the line but you also start as the CEO of your new organization and you can end up more successful than the people above you. Your income is truly unlimited.
I have had much success part-time in several different companies. I have a successful insurance agency that demands a lot of my time but I try to dedicate 8-10 hours a week to my networking. One of my current adventures I am working has spent the last 10 years positioning for the digital revolution in communications. In February all analog television reception will be a thing of the past, it will be 100% digital and now the telephone will start moving in the same direction from analog to digital. It is smart to be weary, but understand that there are some online businesses that have and will continue to succeed. The millions of people who do work from home with their own online businesses wouldn't be doing what they are doing if there was no source of incoming being received.
The best advice I can give to you is do your research. It is so important to find something you enjoy because then you are more likely to spend more time doing it. If anyone tells you that you don't have to invest or spend time working on it, be very cautious. I have been working through many online businesses for over 10 years and have seen a lot of shaky things.
I found an opportunity that I work with today that has changed my life. It isn't a business where you sell one product or send out spam or cold call. It is a fun and easy work from home opportunity that has much of the information given to you via online tutorials. It is one of a kind and you can see from all the responses out there, that it is benefiting many people like you and me.
