Are there legitimate work at home jobs?

Other than doing Mary Kay or Pampered Chef or starting my own business, is there REALLY something out there to work from home? Telecommuting or something? I have the time and the business degree but I want to start a family and don't want to worry about job security. Any thoughts?

Homemaker is about it. Nice work if you can afford it. Pays horrible. Some major rewards.

No not really, the legitimate ones are the ones you dont want, like mary kay, pampered chef, lia sophia, avon, tupperware. Otherwise its mostly scams. You could try working for a business in the phyiscal and then after establishing with them they might let you work from home.

Some organizations will allow you to do customer service from home.

No this question come up often so if there were people wouldn't be asking all the time. Are you against direct sales or are you assuming how it works I only ask because I was until I tried it.

The biggest problem with a home based job is exactly what it says it is a job, but is more likely to be low paid and with no certainty of continuous employment, with those uncertainties and the tax disadvantages I could never recommend a home based job.

If however you wish to create an income from home, then a home based business is ideal. The biggest advantages are working hours that you can set to suit yourself, the opportunity to leverage time through the efforts of others, and significant tax advantages.

There are hundreds of possible businesses, but a business requires some capital to start up so I would recommend looking for one that requires less than $500 to start, but remember it is your business and it will only be successful if you are prepared to put some amount of continuous effort into it. It will take some time to build and get an income flowing, so I would study all opportunities very closely and see if your choice has any bonus schemes which can act as cash flow as the main income stream grows.

Are you looking for a home JOB or are you looking to start your own business?

Have you decided what kind of a business you'd like to have or work for, something that you might be passionate about?

You might also want to think about what you are willing or not willing to do such as home demo parties or not, direct sales or not, cold calls or not.....etc etc.

Are you looking for something that involves having inventory or would you prefer that the inventory is dealt with for you as well as the paper work?

Once you've narrowed that down, you can start looking closer at the options out there and when you do, be very thorough in your evaluation of the companies.....look inside and out and if you like what you see and it excites you then yes! Go for it!
