With money, and an adult over 18 (or 21) to deal with certain contractual obligations depending where you lives support, and the right ideas, no reasons why not.
My first advice is "find your market". A business needs to have a product and customers who want to buy that product. Whether its a paper route (your product is actually a service in this case), stocking groceries (again, a service) or selling door to door, you need to have something that someone wants to buy. This may sound basic, but so many businesses forget this rule.
Also, you will always be successful doing what you like. What are your hobbies and interests? Is there any way other people might pay you for your knowledge? Maybe you could start a web site advertising your expertise. You can also sell ads on your web site and make money that way.
Don't worry about the complicated legal stuff like forming a company. If you are a 13-year old kid, and your business does not have any risk involved, then you would operate as a sole proprietor. But, if something goes wrong, you could be held liable. You should speak with a lawyer or accountant about these issues. Maybe your parents can help as well.

Not sure about the UK but in the U.S. kids start successful businesses all the time. One guy dropped out of school at 16 to work on his internet advertising business and sold it 2 years later for 30 million dollars. |

Of course you could have a business. You are a very smart to start so young. What you need to do first is register your business name, that is if your not using your own name, have business cards done, you could use vista, they have free cards to start, and yes a website with the information of your business. when starting a business you need to keep track of all your expenses so you could deduct them at the end of the year for taxes. don't listen to these stupid scum bags on here. I opened my own business when i was 12 and i was making $1,000 a day. However i am exceptional, i have an iq of 135. So i don't know if most kids are on my level.
It is very important that You really know what you are doing though. Being able to copy and paste code on myspace doesn't qualify you to be a web designer. But if you are really an expert and really really know what you're doing, then why not? |

I suppose you could if your parents signed the forms for you. But nobody would trust you or hire you. Simply because at 13 you cannot have enough experience working with html or know anything about graphic design because you have not been to school for it. Open a lemonade stand. |
