My friend has a sick newborn baby and is at odds with a group of high school girls that say she is harrassing them, but she's not. One of the girl's moms works at the ONLY pharmacy in our small town, and said that the Pharmacist will not serve her anymore. Is this legal? This has nothing to do with the Pharmacist or even any employer of the Pharmacy...who do we need to talk to?

If you cannot come to a resolution with the pharmacy directly, tell them you want it in writing. If they refuse to do that, take a tape recorder in with you and let them know they are being recorded, and ask why she is being refused service. If they refuse to talk, talk to a lawyer or, better yet, your local news channel. If they deny everything on tape, call your friend and have her come right away to do her business.
Either sue the pants off of 'em, or give them such bad press that people will realize it's run by unethical idiots. |

Any business has the right to refuse. I'd still go in and try to purchase what I needed, see how far that threat goes. People are idiots, refusing service meant for a newborn because of high school drama. Some people need to be sterilized for the good of humanity. |

If the pharmacy actually refuses to serve her she should phone a lawyer in front of them and start a lawsuit. Oh yes, she should also call the local media outlets. Her doctor's office would probably be happy to assist her if the pharmacy won't.
This may just be posturing on the mother's part and the rest of the pharmacy personnel may not care. I have unsolicited advice for you and your friend - ignore the teenagers and their families, don't even acknowledge their existence. |

it depends on the state, i know in my state it is illegal. youd have to talk to your state board of pharmacy, you can find their website by searching for "(your state) board of pharmacy" in yahoo or something or else just look them up in the phonebook, theyll likely be located in your state's capitol city |
