I am personally getting checks for working from home every month , I never join any opportunity that requires me to pay anything in advance, heck if it is a money making opportunity why would they make me pay first ?!!

Just because they ask for money up front, does not make it a scam. If you own a big business, they ask for money up front and it is not a scam. I run a home based business, successfully, for a Little over a year. When I am recruiting people one of the first things they ask is how much I make. That is crazy because the way I run my business would be different from the way they run theirs. I have earned what I invested ($49) over a thousand times over. Our comp plan is so good, you will earn back your investment with 1 1/2 new members, not recruits. It is pretty good. Oh and we are publicly traded on the NYSE. If you ask on here about this company, you will get, oh it is a scam, but again, we are publicly traded. Anyway, just thought you should see, I am serious about my business and explain a little about home businesses with hope that someone will understand! Good luck! |

There are many ways that you can work from home. You can sell strictly online (joining consultant/affiliate programs) and advertising your sites, doing in home parties, doing virtual assistant work etc...
I have been doing Online Sales and Home Parties for 9 years now. This is the avenue that works for me.
I also suggest a company that offers products that people come back and buy more and more of each month. Not something that is a one time purchase and you never hear from the customer again.

There are also other companies out there that do charge money, but you do get a kit etc.. in return for your money.

Lots of companies can put you in a business owner position rather than an an employee position. Home based business opportunities do and should have a fee involved to start the business (that's what business is). Even if you had a lemonade stand you would have to "invest" in the lemons, cups, water, sugar and magic markers before you actually sold the lemonade.
The scams are the ones that don't have an ACTUAL PRODUCT OR SERVICE to sell. You pay a huge fee to get involved and you do a lot of recruiting but you are not marketing an actual product or service. THAT IS A BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY SCAM and you should report it when you find one.

I suggest that you find something that you have a love to do. I for example, love to sell jewerly. I am an advisor for Lia Sophia. It has no scams. I have just recently started a home based business. If you are looking for a home based JOB then, you shouldn't have to pay, but if you want to own your business, then yes you would have to invest. What your business is ultimately determines what your investment and overhead should be.

My recommendation is find something you love. I love animals and I researched for 5 months different pet businesses, from pet sitting franchises to pet health services and finally found a pet food company that I became a distributor for and have been doing very well. I think my success comes from my passion more than anything else and from the fact that I truly believe we have the best pet food in the market. If you love animals, this is a wonderful opportunity with very little initial investment ($20) and the potential to make a 6 figure income in a relatively short amount of time. You may want to check out WAHM.com. There are a lot of businesses listed there. If you find something you are interested in post the company to the forum and people will tell you if it is a scam.
