There are many different types of businesses depending on your experience, education and cash savings.
First determine what you have experience in, and what you enjoy to do. If you get into a business that you enjoy and have passion for, you will exceed.
The biggest problem I have seen as a small business bank lender has been lack of cash savings to keep the business running. People start a business with all available cash on hand, but have to sell or close the business when they run out of money to pay the bills when they do not get their projected sales income.
A good option to start up a business is direct sales from a established business company.(ie: Watkins Products (started in 1868), Tupperware, Avon, to name a few. ) I am involved in a direct marketing business. I help people get established in business for themselves. Direct marketing is good because you can start with very little money investment, be trained with an established marketing plan, sell known products, and get your feet wet in business. Ok if you are looking to set up an online business there are quite a few options. Be very careful on your choices as there are quite a few, shall we say, dodgy offers circulating the net.
It is possible to run a business without having a website of your own, most affiliate programs contain options of their own so as you can sell their product, however owning your own domain and web site is a distinct advantage as you are able to use it as your base and promote your businesses through it.
There is a business which allows you to both sell it's product, while benefiting from the use of the product itself. It is one where you purchase, at a low monthly fee, a domain, a website, website building software email addresses and marketing tools. See sources.
Once you have your domain (house) you begin furnishing it with other business opportunities, this could be Google Adsense, Clickbank, Amazon, Ebay, other affiliate programs that you can cross promote to link with your website business. The smart way is to wrap all your businesses around each other, that is to promote with promotion tools you yourself promote if you get my drift. To tie and link everything together.
In today's online environment you will need to be prepared to write articles and submit them (usually about your business interests but can be about anything really) with your links in your signature. You will also need to be prepared to submit to forums and blogs. Being honest, open and friendly (basically be yourself) is good advice as, on the net, trust is difficult to attain as we miss the personal touch of body language to gain our perceptions. Generally most treat the internet with trepidation and suspicion (quite rightly in some instances) due to the high publicity of negative behaviour which sometimes occurs. You do need to be aware and do your research on whatever it is you decide.
The fact will always remain that there is no such thing as a free lunch so you will need a marketing budget for any business you enter into. This seems to be one major problem of new online business owners, as one can tend to believe the hype of dodgy sellers and think that, because the internet gives access to millions it is an easy task. This is not the case as it is a highly competitive environment. You will need to work on your products and services and market them. Every new internet marketer must enter the market with an understanding of this otherwise you will be fodder for the sharks!
