Okay well,
I'm getting a new job at Target as Cashier.
The only problem is, Ive never worked a cash register before.
LOL
Will they teach me or simply not hire me?

It's really 'easy' to work a cash register ... they'll surely train you on the 'machine' but they may expect you to know how to 'make change' ... so I'll 'teach' you that. Say your customer spends $13.57 and hands you a $20 bill. Count backwards from the 'cost' ... so you'll pick out three pennies (to make $13.60) then take a nickel ($13.65) then a dime ($13.75) then a quarter ($14.00) ... then do the 'folding money' the same way ... you'll take one $1 bill ($15) and one $5 ($20) and you've 'made the proper change.' Actually, the Target near where we live gives the 'change' so you don't have to know how to 'count backwards' ... but if you can do that, you'll impress them, and THAT can mean they'll hire you and be watching you ... so 'teach others' and you may get a 'supervisory cashier' job very quickly. |

My daughter works for Target. They have a pretty good training program for their employees.
They'll want to make sure you know what you are doing before you handle customers and cash on your own.
Good Luck. I didn't realize that they offer pretty good benefits for cashiers working a certain number of hours a week. |

If they have already hired you they can't fire you for not knowing how to use a register. They do put you through training though. It is a simple thing that takes time learning. You'll be alright. Good luck. |

They will teach you. It's easy. Even if you had used a cash register, every store has registers that are a little different, so they have to train everybody.
