Creative people wanted! Anyone have suggestions for a name I could use on a business card?

I am certified as a manicurist and I am making my own business cards. I'm not affiliated with any salon so I'm not sure what to put as my "company name". I don't want to use something boring like "Ellie's nails". Something fun, creative... Any ideas?

Well, work in marketing and the thing about naming companies and products is that it has to be meaningful to your clientele (not necessarily to you!). So, I would suggest something simple, which instantly tells people what you do and is easy to remember. For example...Ellie's Beautiful Nails, Nails Express, Nails To Go, Sublime Nails, Sexy Nails, Nails for You, .....etc...I'm sure you can come up with even more! Good luck.

Fancy Fingers, Painted Nails, Nails Anyone?, Cross Your Fingers, Finger Ringers, Clap Your Hands. I will keep trying to think of others and will let you know. Just take these and use your imagination.

you can't just make a name and put it on a card just cause it looks nice.

if you make money now by doing nails, and you are not incorported or anything. then you are what they call a DBA (doing business as). Meaning your legal company name is "Debbie Smith DBA Debbies Custom Nails".

Once you make money on your own, even as a DBA, you cannot just change names as you wish. You can, but you will pay the price after a year or two with seriously messed up taxes, SS money and all other aspects of life.

If you are going to do this for a living, and do not work for another already, then pick a name and keep the name. Cause once you use it once, your credit report and IRS report will show that name as the company you work for.

Now past that legal BS part. The way I have come up with my company names is by listing out every word that pertains to my industry. Then just picking, choosing, flipping combinations around. This way the title speaks of the industry w/o me having too. A sub title under the name can assist in this but goal is to have the biz name give the customer a mental image of what they are and do.

With nails, since I do automotive touch up paint (yes, same product just yours has a chemical added yes I am titled as a cosmetologist) I would focus on what you specialize in. Like say french nails are your thing. Name yourself something like, The French Nail or the French Curl or something. Both words in the name relate to nails or the industry.

After my list of stuff, and I have choosen say 5 names. I then email those names to others I know and talk to. And get their opinion. Cause after all, it doesn't matter how well you like the name. Its a matter of how well do customers like and are willing to spend money.

Good luck, I know I put info out but don't worry, its not 1% as hard as many claim it to be. Just ask questions, banks, local city offices, etc will all gladly answer questions for you. Its how I learned.
