We still have a milk man. He delivers us milk, cheese, and sausages, etc... :-) I don't know if my mom still orders from him. We would get excited every time we saw him because if mom was in a good mood we would get ice cream!
I guess I am to young for an ice man and I've never heard of a bakery delivery truck unless that is what our milk man or ice cream man is called.

Wow, that brings back memories.
We had a milk man who delivered the milk, butter, sour cream, etc...
Never had an ice man. But we had a refrigerator/freezer that we had to defrost every month with a pan filled with boiling water!
We had a bakery truck as well, that delivered the bread, rolls, etc...
We also had party phone lines back in the day!! |

I'm only 22 and when I lived with my grandma (in the middle of Los Angeles, mind you) about a year ago, she still received bread, milk, cheese, eggs and pastries from the Alta Dena Milkman. There is an Ice delivery company in the area, but we have a freezer so that's an extravagance we didnt really have the money for. :) |

When I was a kid we had all these (we didn't use the iceman because we had a refrigerator). We also had a phone that was on a party line...we had to wait till another household got through using their phone to use ours and we had a black and white TV (no such thing as a remote). At school we had nuclear practice alerts where we would all crawl under our desk in case we were bombed by Russia (though a nuclear bomb would have blown all the windows and doors off all buildings and everything inside would have been incinerated anyway. My Dad's car had a spare tire that was the same as all the tires on the vehicle. When you wanted to turn on something that was electronic, you just turn a dial or button and it was on..no led panels or anything like that you turned another dial or button to change channels or turn up volume.
The kids that grew up from that period are the same people that developed the space rockets, cell phones, cable, internet, computers, transistors and a whole lot of the stuff you are so accustomed to using today |

I remember the ice man way back when. In the summer he would chip us off a hunk of ice to eat. We had a milk man about 40 years ago, man you know how to make some one feel old. But them were good times. |
