Each city, village, town you will do work in may want you to get a license. Check with them. Regarding insurance, again check with each municipality. I suggest you have liability insurance regardless of the requirment by each municipality so you are covered for any damage to a customers property you cause. no, as long as you keep it small you can fly under the radar for a long time. If you start taking on projects like building gazaboes or somethig look into getting the correct permits. |

You probably need a zoning variance to operate out of home or garage since I'm assuming you aren't renting commercial space. If you don't neighbors can protest your commercial use of residentially zoned property. |
