Ask your parents for a loan of about $80.00, then go and get babysitters training and CPR certified. With this, more people will want you to babysit their children (you can handle most any situation), and you can charge more. Then pay your parents back and begin your work! Remember, word of mouth will advertise you, so make sure you do a very good job with every babysitting jig, and that you are kind to the parents. :D

There is no law governing babysitting but as a parent I feel more comfortable hiring someone who has taken a babysitting course thru the American Red Cross. This course covers a lot of material that will prepare a person for typical emergencies that might arise while watching small children, such as burns, sprains, choking, etc.
It is always a good idea to be over prepared - it shows responsibility and true desire to do a good job versus simply wanting to earn money. To get started I recommend spreading the word thru friends of your immediate family or posting a flyer at your church. This was not only will the parents be able to get reference on you but you and your parents might feel safer with you going over to the other peoples houses.
Whatever method you chose remember this...you are taking on a huge responsibility that needs to be taken seriously. It is not all watching TV while the baby sleeps. Start small with no more than one or two kids at a time. |

No, you dont need certification, but it would be a good idea to get CPR certified and First aid certified, people would be more likley to hire you. |

***YOU SHOULD ALTHOUGH GO TO YOUR LOCAL RED CROSS OR AFFILIATE AND GET YOUR C.P.R CERTIFICATION- YOU WILL WOW ALOT OF PARENTS WITH THIS UNDER YOUR BELT- ALSO BE SURE TO ALWAYS BE ON YOUR BEST BEHAVIOR- PARENTS OF THE KIDS YOU WANT TO WATCH OR MIGHT EVENTUALLY WATCH ALWAYS HAVE EYES IN UNSUSPECTED PLACES- SO BE GOOD- GO GET YOUR CERTIFICATION IT WILL PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN- FOR YOU AND THE PARENTS- YOUR POCKETS WILL FILL MUCH FASTER ALSO. |

i am a babysitter, and i do not think you need to have a certificate.
but two great places to get certified, because parents like you having a certificate, are www.babysittingclass.com and also your local redcross has a babysitter's training course, which is great. |
