Sarah N | Do most ebay buyers use paypal, check, or money order? |
I listed my first auction with paypal only but was wondering if I would get more bidders if I offered check or money order payments as well. For you experienced sellers, how do most of your customers pay? |

For fast, reliable and safe transaction a lot of buyers and sellers prefer to use Paypal. Both buyer and seller has some kind of a protection by using Paypal than other methods of payment. Please note that even a seller accepts Paypal your payment might not be accepted if it happens that your shipping address is not CONFIRMED. Sellers lose protection from Paypal if they will send to an UNCONFIRMED address in which the buyer files a CHARGEBACK with their credit card company.
Since you are a seller, if your items are expensive I suggest that you put CLEARLY in you listing that you only ship to a CONFIRMED address if they pay using Paypal. Just accept Money Order or Cashier's check for those UNCONFIRMED subject to bank clearing.
I hope this helps.... |

I would say most use paypal. It seems to be the easiest for both parties. |

Most use Paypal as it is more reliable and safe. |

Paypal is used most often. Paypal protects both sides information and has proven to be the quickest way for both parties to deal on EBAY. |

Definitely Paypal.
There are some buyers out there that do use a money order, but for me, it is very rare. I would recommend not accepting personal checks, they are too much of a hassle, for you and for the buyer. |

I am a experienced buyer, and will not bid on an auction that does not have paypal, from what I have read on the Internet most buyers pay with paypal or another online service. I work for a chq cashing company as well, if you decide on money order get the bottom copy as the buyer can use that to put a stop payment on your item. Chq's from other counties can take a long time to clear 30 days USA and 90 days international. Also there are many fraudulent items out there. |

98% of my buyers use PayPal, but if you offer to accept cashiers checks and money orders, you'll save on the PayPal credit card fees whenever a customer pays this way. Buyers who are new to eBay can be understandably skittish about using their credit card online. It doesn't hurt to offer alternatives, but you might want to pass on personal checks.
My first buyer sent me cash, which was a shock when I opened the envelope, although I was flattered by their trust! |

eBay Powerseller

Hi – I am an established seller on eBay. eBay has been my full time job for 4 years, and I have sold over 12,000 items.
I only accept Paypal. If a customer is sending a check or money order, those can be fraudulent. 80% of eBay users use Paypal. You have to go thru a screening process to get a Paypal account, so that weeds out alot of scammers.
Please email me directly and I can share more information with you.
