I have been working for this company for 1 year and my salary is really low I was the first employee to start here in the administrative sector, they praised my work and it had been said that I was an asset to the company. they recently employed an older much more educated girl to be the secretary and they ''told me that I was going to be up stairs in the office administrator section'' Now they are asking me to train this new lady with everything including the jobs are use to do they told her because of her qualifications she would soon be earning lots and lots of money and yet no avail. why are they asking to do all my work first and why are they giving her so many promises...... please help me somebody? |

been there quite a few times. first, get some job offers, at least one. tell them you want a raise, or you're out of there, and mean it. if you don' t get your raise, leave. i have found sometimes the only way to get a raise is to leave. my last two jobs, i have had to train my supervisor how to do the job, and in july, i will have been here a year. i told the boss i want to make the same as what my "supervisor" is making. if i don't i'm out of there. the key is that your job search never ends. i send resumes out daily via the web. good luck. |

i would go directly to my supervisor and sit down and ask point blank why this happening, did I do something wrong. and that you dont feel that you should train someone else. be calm and explain how this makes you feel and ask questions directly. the direct approach to this problem is the best way to handle this. good luck. |

Just to cover your assets, I'd start looking. Upstate Disposal did it to me. as soon as i was done training the "new" girl, I got canned. |

It doesn't sound like they plan of firing you but it also sounds like you dont have a very good future there. I would suggest you just go with the flow and start looking for a new job now.
Unfortunately in today's business environment the easiest way to get more more, new responsibilities and career growth is to switch companies.
You have a little experience under your belt now so Make a move, but be picky because you dont want to have to switch a gain in another year and look like a "job hopper" You are obviously early in your career, you should look at changing companies now after 3 years if you arent advancing.
Get you resume/cv done professional the $100 you invest will be well worth it.
Also when interviewing dont show any resentment toward you current company, just tell the interview what is going on and you dont see a future with them and that you are looking for new opportunities to grow and take on new responsibilities.
