I suggest you start your own home based business. Not a job. Most work at home jobs only pay minimum wage. Not enough to support someone.
I don't know what you like to do, so I can only tell you what my husband and I started over six years ago. It well supports our family as well as a major funding source for our non-profit organization that we started up a while back with part of the income we earned. As well as it's a funding source for other non-profit organizations.
Anyhow, we got involved in the telecommunications industry.
With a world wide company that's over 15 years old. We've been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc. Inc 500 rated us the 22nd fastest growing company. They offer services that people use every day and pay for anyway, but now they can have a lower cost. Services such as local and long distance phones, Internet, digital phones, video phones (you can see the person your taking to live)VOIP, Satallite tv, and all the major cellular phone companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Alltell, Nextell etc. have partnered up with them too.
How many people do you know, or know of, that uses or has one or more of these services? How would you feel if you could save people money on services that they're already using and everytime they pay their bills each month, you make a percentage off these bills every single month. Huge income opportunity. It's incredible how much money is involved in this industry.

I think what you are asking is if there are any legitimate jobs available that will let you work out of your home? Be that a company or a business of your own.
I think there are some great jobs out there to have but they are going to be hard to land. You'll have to do your leg work and get your name out there. It also depends on what your talents are and what you want to do.
If you want to do sales or telemarketing, website design/graphics, or medical transcription. It's all available but not the mainstream to do it at home. I've had several friends that have created their own business by going out and asking companies to do contract work for them. She does accounts receivable at home for one small real estate company and web design for another. She likes it because she only has to work 4-6 hours a day and flexible schedules.
My wife works from home and does designable gift baskets and web design. She fell into the web designing job by us having our kids in a program and just talking to the owners. One thing led to another and asked if my wife would help with a problem they were having. She had it fixed in like 10 minutes so they hired her. Been doing that for over 2 years now.
Good luck in your search and let us know how it went. Remember, exemplify your talents, be patient, and do your networking. This isn't going to be a 'get that job quick' sort of thing. Hang in there :)) |

I noticed from your question that you are not looking to do anything boring like data entry, surveys, rebates etc. I would like to share one with you if you are willing to think out of the box as they say.

The ones that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ).

I have other ideas that may help - one of them is an online opportunity but another is one that will require a little effort to market yourself - try some data entry for local businesses, many of them don't have the time to do it in-house and will gladly pay someone else to do it. Professionals are a good place to start, lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, etc - they need their "in-house" folks doing other things rather than busy work.

I too have said those words.During my first 2 years as a struggling home business entrepreneur dreaming of making money and leading a free lifestyle, I made many mistakes.
Some of those mistakes cost me money...
Others caused me heartache...
