There are all kinds of skills needed in business and everyone has a niche for them. Math is important to the business world because we want to know how we did, how we might do, or what we are doing wrong (or what we could be doing better.) That being said, not everyone in the organization is likely to be a number cruncher and there's nothing wrong with going to an accountant or someone else for some help. I've seen some people that were terrible with numbers that still made their businesses work. The other side to math in business is that it's usually not terribly complicated math. If you can do algebra, that's probably good enough. good luck. |

No, you don't. Once the business reaches a certain size you're going to need to hire a professional accountant anyway.
As long as you can manage a certain level of budget calculations, for which you should only need addition and subtraction, then you'll manage. |

No of course not. Maybe you need the basic maths skills like adding up and multiplying |

No not at all, you just need to be organised and be able to keep track of your revenue and expenses. |

HJ,
no, you dont have to be real good with math to be good at running a business; just have good common sense.
p.s. Captain Sensible - It's 'Faux Pas', not 'pass' |

i am an artist in business for 14 years. i am horrible at math. i have an accountant for annual taxes, and my husband keeps my books straight throughout the year. you can always hire someone to do the books....so dont let that stop you! all the best! |

It helps, but what you really need is to decide on what sort of business you want and how your going to make it work. |

You need to be compitent in maths, not an accomplished mathematician. My advice is to take some extra tuition. |
