Usually a conservatory comes well within what's known as permitted development though many areas are quite sensitive so far as further development is concerned and you may require Building Regulations Approval.
You Local District Council are normally the Planning Authority and the only people who can give you a definitive answer as Planning Law is quite complex. |

I believe it depends on what the size of it is ie total floor space.. Try looking for your local councils website and see if its on there I know some councils do this. |

It depends on the type of conservatory. I think it depends whether the base is brick, or if the whole thing is glass. Ask your local council. It's not worth doing the wrong thing because it will create problems if you ever want to sell the property. Mine is classed as an extension. |

Not necessarily. This may well come into what is descibed as 'permitted development', and as you will see from the answers here, there is quite a bit of confusion on this.
In the UK permitted development (in Class A of The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 1995) only applies to houses (not flats), and depends if the house has already been extended, or if it is listed, or is close to a highway - and there are certain restrictions on height and floorspace.
Check with your local council to see whether there has been any restriction on these due to being in a conservation area or the like.
Note this is distinct from Building Regualtions where certain exemptions for small buildings including conservatories also apply. |

I am sure you don't. As long as it is a proper conservatory-which I think is three glass sides. Rather than, say, house wall, glass front and brick side. |
