Okay my parents tell my im stupid and that ill never make it in this world because what i plan on doing in life is cosmatoligy and it doesnt make a lot of mney but its something i enjoy doing alot....but when i think about it i want my kids to have what they want ....somtimes but if i have a job that doesnt pay a lot so i can be happy is that selfish? I don't think that it is stupid to do what you love. If you love what you do then it shows! I believe it gives you more of a drive to achieve greatness. If you are the best cosmotologist that you can be, then your customers will notice and you will be able to make a lot of money. |

I would never say you were stupid. I would never say you were stupid if you were following your heart. I would never say you were stupid if you were on a track to making money. There is a guy who owns three salons, he drives a Lexus and one of his people drives a BMW. There is money to be made!! You are on the right track! Your detractors want something else for you, they wish you were doing what they couldn't do. YOU BE YOUR OWN PERSON!
I would never say cosmotology was stupid, we all have hair and we all need it cut. Or colored, or removed, or nails done and on and on. YOU are on the right track. Even if your parents never catch up to you YOU will be happier than they ever will! |

Angel follow your dreams. Rather make it through life happy and okay than rich and miserable.
And BTW my mom is a hair stylist and she makes pretty big bucks, enough so to have her own salon. Which is doing great. So don´t let anyone tell you there is no money in the business. All you need is to work hard and then you will have you loyal clients who will always support you.
And the thing with your parents, even though what they say seems hateful towards your dreams, but parents only really want whats best for you. And sometime strangely enough they don´t know what it is, so it is up to you to show them your dream is not stupid. And no following your dreams is very far from selfish!!!!

if you make a lot of money but dont enjoy what you do, youre gonna be miserable for the rest of youre life. (just look at middle class corporate america). do what you love and enjoy it. hell some people are poor but they are happy as hell! so follow youre own dream! |

First of all, there is good money to be made in the field...a good hair dresser/cosmotologist is never without work, and some of the better ones make some big bucks. Do not let anyone call you stupid..very bad. Good luck, stick with your dream. You will do just fine. |

It is a good career and can pay you well. I have family members and friends in that work. One owns her own Hair Salon business and has many gals working for her. She makes a good living from it too. Great tips! Another is an assist manager of a hair salon that is a chain store. She is not interested in having her own business, but likes being a manager and also working with customers.
The point is that you do something you like and feel you are able to do. You do not let others "tell" you want to do! You research the opportunities and be sure you know what you want then go do it!
Some gals make great incomes from just doing peoples nails. Some like to just work the hours they want and days they want and they can do it with these kind of jobs.
The draw back is that it is a non-pension paying job. You must save for retirement yourself, you are likely to have poor health insurance, and vacations and holdiays may not be many or even paid. However, you usually make up for much of that if you get into a place where you have good paying clients that give good tips.
If you want to start your own business first start out by working for someone else to gain experience. Learn every areas of the business.
If you are not interest in owning a business then just look for a friendly place that pays well and draws good customers. Remember to keep track of names and address of all your customers. If you move to another hair salon if you tell your customers they will often follow you to the new place. You will be worth a lot of money to the owner of the place you then work!
But by all means do your own thing! |

Your parents only have so much say the first 18 years of your life after that it is YOUR life ~ If you don't do something for yourself NO ONE ELSE WILL.
Believe in yourself and prove them wrong. Cosmetology is a great career ~IT'S ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU PUT INTO TO IT.
