I think it depends on the business. If there is a market for it and it succeeds, then starting with just credit might be okay. You usually need money to start any kind of business though. |

If you make money then it probably will be ok. If it is a dumb business with no future...probably not. Do some research and make sure the idea is smart. |

Being under-capitalized is a major reason that startup businesses fail. You must be conservative in projecting your income and expenses. Most of the time, a startup business will be cash-flow negative for at least several months. Having a cash cushion is imperative. |

Depends on the business. If you're not going to make money right away to at least meet the minimum payments on your credit cards/financing, then don't do it.
I started a business with 90% financing with a projection that I will make 3x the minimum payment every month. Lucky me, it turned out that my projections were very conservative and I made 4x the minimum payment. I used all the profits to pay off my loan and within a year and a half, my business was debt free.
Of course, because I didn't pocket any profits, I had to continue working my regular job. It was a lot of hard work but everything turned out fine. Good luck on your business endeavors! |
